    Is that a ski lodge? Wonder if that is more for atmosphere/aesthetics than heating?

    Wow, thats just huge. That has to be a lodge or something along those lines. I dont think I'd want to cut the amount of wood it'd take to heat areas like that.

    Its a relatively shallow firebox, so it will put out some heat, and I bet it will be cozy on those two built-in benches. As high as that ceiling must be, and the size the room would have to be to look right with a ceiling that high, I can't imagine it would be enough to really heat the room. Even the Cracker Barrel fireplaces which are a good bit bigger don't do much unless you nearly climb inside them. Still, it is a VERY nice looking fireplace!!!
