The stove Eric posted is a US stove cleanfire, I don't know anything about them, totally different then the serenity. The Serenity comes from Ardisam which used to make Cumberland stoves, the stove is made overseas but engineered by Ardisam. They done a hell of a job on it, It has a plate heat exchanger so there is no passages or traps for hidden ash. Vacuuming the firebox is the only cleaning to do. Cleaning the Ravelli sucks after having a Serenity for 3 yrs.If I wouldn't loose my azz on selling the Francesca the new Serenity would be heating my house.
That was my bad Rich, I was referring to seeing the Serenity on sale in the side-bar @ TSC in the link Eric posted - should have been more clear on that, sorry for any confusion caused. That's one strong endorsement! The new stove will likely replace the Francesca in the living room, the Francesca will move to the porch room (or laundry room) on the other side.. Depending on venting, and costs involved. (The venting cost may very well approach the cost of the stove.. Searching CL for deals currently.) You've given me some great info., & things to consider here.
In of itself, that doesn't make a major impact on the decision here, the Francesca only has a 33 lb. hopper, and would be better suited for the (2) small rooms it would be situated in, about 400 sq/ft total space, and -> pushing heat back into the house IHP. (I don't foresee either stove running past 1.6 lb/hr, in that space.)
Nice!! Looks like it works perfectly for you. My case it would fail unfortunately. My EP has a 40# hopper, and it barely has pellets feeding after a days work on level 3. My WP workhorse has 130 give or take. That's something i will always want for that area.
You've been spoiled w/ the hopper on that WP stove, IHP.. ( Nice looking stove, and a lot of BTU horsepower under the hood there. ) Seriously, I wish we had a bigger hopper also - having a sleep schedule that requires waking up every so many hours to feed the stove gets 'tedious' - especially after the cold spell we had. Sorry Russell, for 'jacking the thread. ... Ok, back on topic: Highest setting today was (3) / 1.6 lb/hr, and roasting out of the house.. Turned the thermostat down, currently idling at (1) / 1.0 lb/hr .. Was a true January thaw here the past 48 hrs., and aside from Friday/Sat., looks like shoulder-season weather for the next week or so.
Umm.. Maybe. ( Will reach out later today, Thanks B! ) ( B kindly offered spare venting parts she has to us. )
Ulterior motives - it's been kicking around my basement and I want to get rid of it, but don't want to bother with C (and not giving it away fro free on CL). Payment will be made in the form of helping me move something that is too big (although not too heavy) for me to move myself. And if I'm really lucky, he will take another something with him so that it is also out of my way
Level 5 out of 6. I'd use 6, but the ashpan catches on fire , and only use 5 for a few minutes at a time, I can smell it on 5 when it starts wanting to catch the ashpan on fire.
runnin mostly on low,if i turn it up to medium it heats too quick and shuts t-stat off, pretty sure high would melt aluminum
