By the way I forgot to mention leinenkugels brewery is only 25 minutes from us and we've toured it a time or 2. They use real Wisconsin honey from a place about 30 miles from the plant for the honey weiss
I used to travel to Erie PA for work a lot, I remember the first time the guys from the plant took me to dinner I asked the waiter to recommend a good local beer. No joking, my entire table and probably all the surrounding tables yelled "YUENGLING!!!" at the same time! At the time you couldn't buy it in Ohio so every trip up there I'd load my car down with 6 or so cases to bring home. It's probably the best macro brew out there. Plus they're still American owned!
Pliny the elder from Russian river brewing. Hard to get here in Indiana though. I also like Jai Alai from cigar city brewing in Florida, also hard to get for me. I also like Zombie Dust from 3 Floyds, that I can get in Indiana. Considering I only drink 3-4 beers a year, my go to drink is Coffee and sweet tea!
The great thing about so many craft beers is there will be no way to try them all, they are popping up all over and they make so many different versions right now I'm enjoying a few; Sam Adams Summer Long Trail Ale and this one is something new my wife brought home tonight Harpoon Camp Wannamango (if you like mango)
We have a small brewery just North of me in Sawyer Michigan called Greenbush. They do some pretty amazing beers also. I have not tried a bad one from there.
That's my year-round standby beer. It's light and refreshing enough if you're wanting to put down a 12 pack, but still has a little more flavor than a Bud.
I have ordered beer from westervleiten monastery in Belgium, actually not from the monks, a dealer in Belgium, the westy 12 is wonderful, but at $125 a six pack delivered to my door, I don't drink it very often.
Just had a Sam Adam's Oktoberfest last night...good stuff. I do like my Leinies too, But my favorite has to be Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen. Those Krauts know their beer!
Love it, but it is waaayyyyy too easy to drink for a 8.5% beer My brother in law and I killed a 1/4 barrel in five days a few weeks ago. Had to finish the week with bottled Two Hearted.
I'm not a beer snob, but I've tried as many different brews as most snobs. I just don't waste a bunch of time talking about the mouthfeel or finish. I just usually classify them as 'good' or 'not as good'. That said, my answer to the OP's question is easy - Highland Black Mocha Stout. I just got back from a trip to Chattanooga and stocked up on some of my regional favorites. I'll be a happy camper for awhile!
If I were forced to choose just one as a favorite, I'd have to say Epic Brewing's Big Bad Baptist. Followed closely by The Brew Kettle's El Lupulo Libre. But there's so much more and variety is the spice of life.
Too many different beer styles around the world. I can't really choose just one. My tastes change with the seasons, sometimes even daily. Pretty soon it be time to pick a favorite stout.
