You have to be careful though. You don't want to be using oil made for water cooled 2 strokes in these air cooled saws.

Now if that GP oil is from a free air cooled not liquid cooled bike, then yeah. Go ahead.

Amsoil says you can go 100:1. My cutting buddy goes 80:1 with sabre in his 460 and it works great. He hasn't had the stones to try 100:1 and probably won't. I don't blame him.

    Yikes!
I like Amzoil products, but 100:1 is scary thin!

Ski doo claims their sleds run oil that thin. I'm afraid these ratios are being pushed by the EPA and are not as practical as they say. IMHO

Woodland Pro synthetic in mine for a few years. Like others, I'm not saying it's better but priced right and have not had any saw issues. When I work with an arborist, they love how the saws run.

Well I won't be putting it in my saws, the race fuel burns a bit cool and it makes the saw hard to start even when warm.

My mates theory is that after a day's racing the left over fuel can never go back in the bike so the saw gets it.

I recon in the future he will have problems with the saw.

Polaris did the same when they went to electronic oil pumps on the axys 800 sleds too. The oil pump uses 3D mapping to ensure it gets the right amount of oil needed, and runs richer during break in.

One of these years I'll probably buy an 800 axys switchback. You know, when it snows regularly and doen't have crazy temp swings? ;).

Yeah. I remember those days. In 2001 I put 5000 miles on my sled ....3200 in February (rode 23 of 28 days)
Now? it takes me 3+ years to get that:doh:

Burned almost 4 cases of Castrol two stroke oil in 2001. Found out it had a high ash content that left flaky brown barnacles on the spark plugs. Been running Tundra and Polaris oil since.
My FST turbo doesn't use oil.

Been running redline synthetic, which i guess is primarily for sleds seems to work great mixed at 44:1. Di do have some stihl ultra i dont like the smell as much as the redline.

I've bought 3 Stihl OPE's in three years and they push their oil by offering a 2 year warranty if you buy a 6 pack of Stihl oil. So, for now , I guess I'm a Stihl Ultra user. I might try Amsoil when I run out

I'd never go that thin......I'd rather be rich on my mix. Especially in my older saws.

From what I understand that is the same as Dolmar synthetic and I really like it.
The Saber at 50:1 in brush and limbing doesn't burn clean for me. 20170122_153841.jpg the Dolmar synthetic oil actually does better even at 40:1
