Old roommate and I had a pretty sizeable liquor collection. When he left, I got all the stuff he wouldn't drink so now I am coming up with ways to use them up. Hence the Canadian Reserve chicken the other night.

Cleaned the chimney today. Got about 3 cups of black/brown fluff. Not too bad for an old defiant. Also located my mailbox in the snow drift and sledded a couple days of wood to the porch. Hoping I'll be able to get my truck to the wood pile in a couple more days of above freezing temps. That big storm blocking my wood access was a contingency I hadn't planned for. Next time I will.

Here's what I'm up to today. Also watching Denver and San Diego and the winner of that plays the Pats next week. I'd say "get's beat by the Pats" but I don't take that for granted.

Came down with a 24 hour bug yesterday that kicked the chit out of me, but got up this morning feeling okay. Geezum, it's been years since I didn't feel good. ...well, other than my knee replacement and rotator cuff surgery and a few teeth implants. (welcome to old age)

Spent the afternoon picking up and delivering supplies to our church to help with the water relief efforts in WV caused by the chemical spill. It was really sad to see how much it is affecting people especially a lot of older people who are having a hard time getting out or just can't stand in lines out in the cold for hours to get water.

Our church is working with another church in Charleston to help out and we have been collecting supplies all day. A bunch of guys are taking a few truckloads of supplies down tomorrow and I am hoping to get off work on Wednesday to take a truck and trailer load down. We have been dropping it off at the local church in the city and helping deliver it to a lot of elderly people who can't get out.

Really crazy how we take for granted turning on a spigot and getting a drink of water or being able to take a shower.

Saw it on the news here tonight. What a mess! Can they not takes showers and such as well, or is it so contaminated it can't be used at all?

Good on ya, for all the good you're doing! God bless you for the service.

You can't touch or drink the water which includes no washing clothes so the only thing you can do with it is flush your toilet. The city of Charleston is pretty much shut down along with 9 counties. It has been like that of four days and they still have no idea when it may be resolved.

Yeah.. I figured ut-oh.. I'll be sick all week.. but I got up the next morning and ...well, I made chili, so I couldn't have been feeling to bad.

RE: The Pats, I may kick myself for saying this, but I want to see Brady kick Peyton's butt. (..who names their kid Peyton?)

So, seems like parts of WV I've been through, admittedly not much, WV was pretty rural. I my area the rural towns, like mine, we all have artesian wells. Only the older/larger cities have city water. Is that not the case down there?

Gonna spend the whole day diving into the controls/features getting to be "as one" with my new Canon 60D. Wife bought it for me as a combo, anniversary/birthday/Xmas present.

These new higher end DSLR cameras are deceiving. You look at them and they're all black and pretty simple looking on the outside, but when you start digging into their capabilities you realize they are incredibly versatile. But along with that comes lots of complexity, and although I have it's predecessor from the 07 timeframe, it's almost a different camera, except it takes the same lenses and some of the controls are similar.

Camera bodies are like PCs these days. They come out with the new version yearly so no matter what you buy, it's not the latest and greatest for very long. So I wait till the next generation get's introduced and then buy the previous as a new in box/refurb from B&H Photo and pay about halfof the original street price. With cameras it's all about the glass so staying with the same manufacturer the lenses are interchangeable.

I'll prolly play a little vinyl while I'm at it, now that I got Mama off to work. This retired gig is the balls! :fire:
