Got home and set up the little Honda sucker pump to water the lawn. Creek is still high, peak of the melt , so I had to to tie down the suck tube and strainer.
And then there was that darn Aspen that got pulled out by the roots and hanged up under my foot bridge. So.. I wrapped my newly formed, Flemish eye'd , 25' extension cable - thimble on one end- choker loop on the other- triple clamped and tag wrapped wire rope........takes a deep breath.. onto the main portion of the tree and winched it out of the creek. It went so smooth, when it was all done , I did the "walking man" dance. :dancer:

How far can you pump water? Water rights come into question when pumping from blm land (in my case)?

I don't have to pump far, not more than about a 35' head spread out over 200'.
As far as water rights go, technically, the water in my creek is owned by Coor's. I pump it out of the creek to water my lawn. It traverses through the soil until it hits the water table, then goes right back where it was always going. I just make it's route a bit more complex.
I made a nifty little muffler for the pump, as my only concern about using it was the noise it made. Didn't want to upset the neighbors.
I'm in N.F., BLM areas would be different. In my experience with BLM, it's more of a personal decision, if they know you.

A lot of lake camps in Maine have water lines that are put in/out seasonally. Too bad you don't have water nearby that's close to your elevation... hmmmmm ... ;)

Since the price has sky rocketed by 40-50% due to the lack of suitable numbers of donors................ I'd say you, unfortunately paid way too much.............But hey, life is short, enjoy them they sure look good...........................

I don't about anyone else, but I don't see a lot of shoppers at the red meat case at the supermarket. Chicken, pork and steak tips, sure, but buying steaks, not really. I think it is a combination of high prices and folks eating a little better.

I have not had a steak in months. It has to be a special occasion or buying tips for a cookout. All this steak talk has me thinking I need to get a nice one soon.
