Hmm, take this as more speculation because Im not an expert on alternators particularly. It sounds like what you need is a small load (resistance) in the line. The lamp is giving you that load. A diode probably wouldnt work as well since its primary function is to be a one-way valve - but it does have a very small forward resistance and would give you some load, but a lot smaller than even a tiny lamp.
Got my feet up on my desk, eating some muffins and listening to the radio. Nobody knocking on my office door. Some days I love my job.
Yeah, I can't answer that one either. I do lots of marine installations/fixes, and I've fixed a few buddies' cars over the years that needed the sense wire, but I don't have any experience with that ignition wire. I believe the thing will work just fine without it, but I'm not 100% on that on these older Delcos.
I dunno either... Looking at the age of that Ford i was half expecting to see a DC generator with separate regulator, etc.. Was the alternator factory on them?
Since we are bullchitting..... I just want to say sorry in advance. I really, really like you guys and hanging out here. It's just an opinion, and knowing my track record I'm probably wrong. Sorry!! Please don't hold it against me.
Not liking my job today. Had to pull an employee out of one of my sites. By total accident, reviewing budgets and spend YTD with the customer, we figured out he's been falsifying his OT records, getting paid over $10k so far this year, a few hours at a time. This is a well liked, tenured employee, not a young kid. Those you trust, screw you in the end...a whole lot of paperwork now with HR and legal to do....grrrr.
Work. The weather has been so nice I can't stand being at work. I want to be home cutting my grass, or moving rocks, or fixing trails, or working on the camp, or ............... ANYTHING besides the mandatory job!!!!! So, now I'm having a and , well, not falling over like that guy , but having a beer and relaxing. Nice job on the smileys Scotty. It's a start!
My cold is finally getting better and Ive only got a couple more hours work before a full week vacation. Hoping for some nice weather Sunday b/c Ive got an all day pass to go to the airfield. Next week we are interviewing preschools for the twins and Im hoping to get a lot of outside work done... yard cleanup, touching up the fence paint, moving the last of the new wood into the 14/15 stacks.
I joined the arboristsite today. I need to learn as much as possible about improving the health of some trees. Going to do some reading tonight after I try to get some exercise in!
I'm heading out to plant 10 acres of endo friendly fescue. Their calling for rain tomorrow so I'll probably be working on the gator.
