If we lose power I won't be heart broken. Our entry way stays at refrigerator temps most of the winter, we've actually had to warm it over the last week. The freezer is in the basement and would take forever to that this time of year. We cook almost exclusively on the woodstove. I had a big ol boat battery to keep the wifi on and the phones and ipad charged. Battery powered lanterns, oil lamps. The only thing I would use a generator for would be the TV, and we can do without that.
Of course in the summer I would be concerned about the food.

So does our entry way however we have 2 fridges and 2 freezers full of food and not enough entry way. We do use the garage for food storage in the winter when the power goes out though. It will be nice to run the geny for the internet and phones too. More ups than downs here. :)

First priority - internet!!! and computers!!! :D Food I guess would come next. Our generator is for plugging in the electrics for the boiler and circulators for the house heat. We have a travel trailer for cooking, small fridge in it for easily spoiled things and lots of coolers. My freezer isn't overflowing so I always have containers of ice in there for using the coolers in the summer time. Fortunately we don't often have extended power outages. Wait - I think I might have messed that up by talking about it.

Decompressing after spending time on the infamous government health care site. A three year old could have made it easier. Human factors wasn't their strong suit.

With one of those small generators, I would be tempted to charge a power pack, then charge the phone and Ipad etc from the power pack. There is this issue of clean sine. I am in no hurry to burn out my electronics.

I helped my parents get tree down and set it up yesterday. No decorations, that will be later. And I cut some wood, not as much as I would have liked, but it will still be there tomorrow. So much to do and not enough time to do it all.

The list for today so far.

    1. Dump run for parents and I.
    2. Clean Pellet stove at camp.
    3. Clean boiler at house.
    4. Bring some wood in.
    5. Build wood box for tractor in heated garage.
    6. Go cut some wood if I have any time left.
    7. Clean garage after the light runs out outside.

Oh. And mail out a couple of Christmas gifts!

Been hiding from the single digit wind chills for two days. Time to face the cold. Work outside every day, for 18 yrs. Never get used to the wind. Back to this house for some punch out. IMAG0081.jpg IMAG0088.jpg IMAG0109.jpg these pics are from maybe September. I'll try to get one today of the completed exterior. We are the builder's in house carpenters. We do all things wood from framing to trim, cabinets, hardwood, etc.

It's on a 14 acre lot on a good sized lake. The lot was formerly owned by a prominent Michigan business man/politician whose house suspiciously burnt down twice a few years back.

    I'll get more pics today.

I want to say the lot was 400k. I wouldn't hesitate to say that the total package would be worth 5 million when it's done. Could be twice that. Don't think money is an issue at all for this guy. It's one of a few houses he has around the country. We haven't even started the boat house yet. Supposed to be another complete living area. That'll probably be worth 200k.
