Snow always looks so soft until it packs. He was blessed to be 1. unharmed, 2. found by someone, 3. not frozen solid when found. I can't imagine what it must have been like. You always think of avalanche hazards while backwoods skiing, not roof raking your own house.o_O

Yeah, pulling snow down to himself...off of a metal roof...what could possibly go wrong?
We even park vehicles accordingly when we see a building with a metal roof-just in case.

So I am home again today. Still coughing what sounds like my guts up. Was looking forward to a trip with Campinspecter to the big town and dental appts. but didn't want to fill the small enclosed space of the car with my germs. I don't think the dental hygienist wants the germs either.

Another frosty morning with a clear and sunny skies for today. Sat out on the back porch in the germ busting sunshine yesterday while Campinspecter mowed the lawn and got sheets dry on the clothes line. The dogs and I have to entertain ourselves today.

Again, lucky he ended up on top of the snow and not under it or on top of the ladder.

Had a little snow up there. Lucky he missed those boxes too. When small buildings like that lose half of the snow (one whole side), it's a wonder the enertia and opposite side load doesn't cause it to fold up. Looks like a lotta weight.

Watched the Alaska roof snow removal. At least there was lots of people standing around to help if necessary!

Wow, every year? I've lived here since 08, and this was the first time I've had to monkey with the pressure tank.
They reported he is was from New Hampshire. He didn't talk like you guys, so I knew he was a transplant. ;)

Another brag on dear husband. I'll need semi-gloss, right?

Here we would use a Kitchen Bathroom paint with mold inhibitors. General Paint makes a good one but I don't know if you have it down there. I prefer the eggshell finish but I think semi-gloss is recommended for bathrooms. The link below has some good info.

We've always used the semi-gloss, but Woodwidow had a good idea also.
And you're looking younger every day!:D

Cutting grass? Man oh man! Line dryed sheets? Good smell!
I hope you get on the mend soon, Woodwidow, and I'm sure the whole dentist's office appreciates you not wanting to share!

Talked to someone at work today and it doesn't sound like they want me to share what I have either. So I am forced to sit here and browse FHC and work on my genealogy research. Almost sounds like retirement.

The roof is about a 9 pitch. We raked the lower half yesterday to clear the ice dam. We tried to go up the front side of the roof, but the snow was only a few inches deep and the shingles were very slippery. We ended up going up into the valley in the back, dug into the drift and walked to the peak. The snow in the drift was dense, like styrofoam.

Our roofing and siding contractor had his sweet crawler lift on site for the higher roofs. This unit runs off a diesel engine and can be run off a/c power inside a building. The tracks can be moved inward and outriggers stowed against the body to fit through a 36" wide door.
It has self-leveling outriggers, two man basket, a/c power in the basket and air and water hook ups in the boom.
