I believe he is a type of woodchuck, nearly hunted to extinction by African pygmies in the cottonwood forests of NW Iowa back in the 1800s.

Well, only -17 this morning. Looks like it is supposed a good day out there. The Big Bonnechure Cup Snow Mobile Races are this weekend and the weather looks to be co-operating. Should be some big crowds. Headed down to the truck stop with the bride for breakfast then running some errands around town. After that, who knows. Everyone have a safe day

Letting this coffee soak in before heading outside to bring some wood up to the house.

Packing up the family and headed to Indy for the day.

A week of nasty weather starts tonight.

Just got home from work. I don't know what I'm gonna get into. Definitely gonna start the day with a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Is it breakfast or dinner?

Yes, it has been mostly clear for over a week and I melted channels in the ice.. Drip had stopped for about 5 days but then started up again yesterday- maybe due to the strong sun warming the roof. Stopped again this morning since it dropped to 0 overnight.

You've had ice back up somewhere. Don't know the configuration of your roof, but it can leak in at a different spot and work its way down to the entry point in your house. Make sure the roof is clear for a larger area, not just immediately above the leak...
    It's a pain.

Yeah the leak is nowhere near the ice... Roof is a pain, there was a rear ell with a stone porch on one side and they built an addition on top of the porch and framed a shallow pitch roof (less than 6/12) over the top of the original 12/12 roof. Its the shallow roof with the bad ice that backs up a few feet from the edge. Water comes in, runs down the roof deck drips onto the ceiling framing and then runs all the way back to the base of the old roof and that's where it comes through the ceiling, at a drywall tape joint.

I cleared about 8 feet or more of snow from the roof... probably about 2-3 fet of snow left up at the ridge.. but either that or its the ice damm itself melting and maybe my drainage channels froze up again.
