Last good guy after the rack and alignment; especially in case of accidents, drove thru a puddle in parking lot. Kept car straight and always checked the tracks of water off tires for alignment also

Thanks for the opinions. Both garages are places me and/or family have gone to many times and always great experiences with different repairs, though I'll admit it was my first alignment with the place who did the last one (though the other place has done several for us with different vehicles and never an issue).

Bearing in mind what you guys have said, along with some people on truck forums I posted the question to as well, I think I'll call the place who did the last one and see what they say.
I'm also going to have a good look at the rest of the truck and think hard about what the actual cost of the "paid for" truck will be over time vs getting another truck. If I go with that option, the tire issue doesn't matter so much.

New tires every 6 months sounds so expensive!

Well, I get a little longer than that, but it's between that and a year. It is getting a little agitating.

If vehicle has frame damage you still would not be able to get the alignment in specs. If they are saying it is in alignment get their spec sheet printout. I'd also check for loose ball joints.

Need to build more floor around it. Wanted to make sure the setup and layout would work as planned before going all in.

Front end was checked and two bad joints replaced last time. I do have the printouts for the past two alignments.

Only other couple things that comes to mind is bearing wear or rim trueness. Rims would be a long shot as you said rotating did not help much if I read it correct.

Nope, both fronts wear similarly. All rotating does is give the fronts some more rubber to wear down.

Pretty much, yup. My room will have a very conveniently located bathroom.

    Thanks.

One thing that I always remind people of when trying to decide if they are going to fix or replace an otherwise ok vehicle, especially with a new vehicle, the sales tax amount on the new one very well may pay for the repairs on the old one...the taxes gain you nothing, the repairs may give you a reliable and paid for vehicle for a while again.
This obviously would not apply if the old vehicle is a pile and has been problematic

Part of the equation is, what constitutes "a while".

If I lived somewhere like Texas or even the pacific northwest, I'd have no hesitation taking my truck, or maybe one of a similar or older age if I liked it even better, and preparing to rebuild pretty much all the moving parts. Aside from an accident or a fire, that'd give me a reliable truck for just as long as a new one, with a far smaller price tag.
We in the northeast have to factor in the chance that you can invest thousands into an older truck, and crippling rust might show up right after. Been there, done that :picard:

So I've learned to be wary about putting money into a daily driver at a certain age. Now, if you have a classic that's going to be garaged in the winter and not relied on every day, that's a different story.
