I agree Stinny, we usually get the wet heavy stuff in March, I hope we get a small melt before or I'll be up on the roof.

Yesterday was the first time I can remember that they shut down all MBTA trains, subway and trolleys the day after a storm. Buses were running at less than full schedules. I dont know how many people were able to get to work in and around Boston.

Had the saws fully gassed and all chains sharpened about 3 weeks ago. Freezing rain cancelled my plan to cut wood.
Fast forward to endless snow storms and the fact I won't see the ground until April when everything floods..... I drained the saws and ran them dry. :hair:

Last winter I needed hip waders, we had a chit load of snow with what seemed to be about 2 inches of rain, I plowed so much snow/water I was down to the grass so why stop there........I made the natural drain from the low side of the house to the front a bit lower since I took it down to mud and the crazy thing is the grass was much better in that area last summer than before.[/QUOTE]

I see your point, but your BMW is German, hence overly complicated, despite being easy to work on.

Germans over engineer, over analyze, and sometimes under think their products.

I'm 50% German, both my paternal grandparents came directly from Germany in the early 1900's, so I can say that. I also speak and write German, was an exchange student there, worked with German engineering at a German company for several years, and own an Audi that I work on myself as much as I can, until I need extra special tools.:wacky:

So, I wonder how employers are handling this snow emergency situation? Are they making employees use sick/personal days, or are they doing the right thing and not charging those days to employees if they can even get in, or operate the business at all?

All I can say is that in the example of my company, facilities where closed Monday and "limited open" on Tuesday - HR told us to work from home unless critically required to be in the building, and speak with individual managers about that.

However in our case we are 20 miles outside the city and we are the kind of business where probably more than half the staff can work at home as easily as in the building. If my wife was still working as an RN at the hospital in Boston she would probably have been required to find a way to get there regardless.

I had a call with DishWireLine, she cleaned my modem up, went from 4.4mbps to 6.8mbps.

No Cable, no DSL here, is satellite my only choice?

Last winter he was pretty good, this year I'm not sure but usually when he has a vid the storm has a good chance of being nasty.

I started following him when he called a few of the wind events we had a few years back.

I have to get the kids off the bus and as soon as my wife gets home go up and have a beer with my Dad. Mom and my wife will have some wine. And then, I might eat a little. Good times!

I might consider the newer BMW motorcycles over complicated, but not the older ones like my '94, air cooled, two valve, push rod, carbureted, shaft drive is about as simple as it gets :D

I think so. You could use your phone, but unless you had unlimited data, it would get very expensive.

How close are your neighbors? ;)
