NO EXCUSES from any shipping company delivering within the US boarder. They used to be my most hated but lately they've been my favorite, FedEx got this package from Australia to Buchanan, MI in 3 days!

Sadly I haven't heard from him. He used to post pictures each summer when he cut wood near me but he's not done that for a couple years either.

Thats awesome. I ordered something Saturday that was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Im in NC, the package was shipping from Indiana. It went to Oregon and has been to 3 different places in Oregon. Now it says arriving next Monday. I just don't understand how they can screw up so badly.

    no, I'm not.

I believe that report may be slightly exxagerated, at least in our case. I'm in no position to comment on those other places. We do (or did?) Have a temporary restriction on ATV use, think it might be lifted now, perhaps with a requirement to carry a fire extinguisher. Nothing about hiking or fishing that I can find.

Fact of the matter is, and I'm not a snowflake alarmist, but we have had an extremely dry summer (not unprecedented, but the worst in decades) and many of our people have lost everything. The worst fire got dangerously close to my workplace, and several of my coworkers have suffered horribly for it. And it's not even limited to "wild"fires, some fires have started crazy easily on residential properties.

I might have reacted the same as you at one point, but when you're seeing it up close and personal for real, it makes one think differently, kinda like those terminal illnesses that happen to other people on the news, till its you or a close relative. When my grass was starting to look like cured straw, and we've had bonfires rage to life in minutes because of the likes of a cigarette ember, or even a glass yard ornament in the sunlight, I find no fault in a temporary ban on open fires or unnecessary fire hazards.

On the other hand, 5 years ago we had the worst snowstorm in a generation or two, and last November was the rainiest month in a similar timespan. And considering I'm trucking in my household water supply right now, I could handle another such November this year. I could do without 3 feet of snow at once though.

Our climate changes every hour sometimes. The weather, every three minutes :shiver:

Hey all, been a short bit since I've been around.

Been some rough days for me, as well as some long days submerged in work.

But it has been time well spent.

    Screenshot_20250820-190427~2.png

Still a lot of overtime to take advantage of, and I'll continue on that path.

I had to replace my phone, so I need to go through a password reset so I can log in with the new phone.

Miss ya'll and hope to be back soon.

Congratulations getting that paid off so quickly. I know some people that plan to pay off in less time than their loan term is for, but then they can't/don't do so for whatever reason - sometimes unexpected circumstances such as job loss or medical issues, sometimes just not planning or budgeting well. You have obviously been working hard and lots to make sure that you were able to do so.

Way to go Chaz you were making a monthly payment about every 10 days! A lot of people try; few do! You will be in such a better place in 5 years

She wasn't hiding on the floor?!
My wife tells about being dropped off at school in one of her dads "junky old construction company trucks" while she was laying on the seat begging to be dropped off down the street a bit

Jeffrey Svoboda that fedex is even more impressive when you realize Australia was 16 hours ahead of EDT and Geelong 30 years ago was middle of no where wide spot in the road

I got into a yellow jacket nest in the woods yesterday. My pant leg below the calf was completely covered with them before I realized what what happening. Thank God I was wearing tall boots under my jeans otherwise it would have been bad. I only got stung twice...once on the leg and one on my hand. My hand is still pretty swollen and itchy 24 hours later. I hate those things.

Did some more wiring in the shop this morning. I got all 14 (yes, that's a LOT but nobody ever wishes they had fewer outlets) holes cut in the OSB for old work outlet boxes. I kicked than can down the road a bunch of times, but I ran out of road this morning.

No, she wanted to go in the truck. We got a few looks from parents that were jealous of all my storage space.
