Driving into the office this morning at oh dark thirty, following the plows still at work and hoping the roof leaks wont get any worse before I get home...

I passed by a runner, jogging down the barely plowed street with his reflective jacket and "im training for the marathon" getup.

For some reason I felt this urge to pull over and punch the guy in the face.

    I didn't of course, but .....

Pull over and suggest he get some exercise raking snow off your roof and moving snow in your yard. that will keep him fit!!

    Snow rage is setting in?

I don't mind the snow, but I have the tools to deal with it plus a job that allows me to work from home whenever I need to.

Roof rake is not required (yet) for me but I don't have any valleys. If I ever build my garage & mudroom, I'll be a raking and cursing just like you I'd imagine.

The question is do I shovel the deck or just hope it doesn't collapse? It is a poorly designed deck, could put a jump start on the desire to put on an addition.

Yeah Ive got the tools, 4x4 and WFH freedom as well... Snowblower is working over time and my neighbor has a 20ft roof rake that I can reach all the trouble spots from the ground. problem here is a 220 year old house that was built long before central heat was even a concept, even after Ive had retrofit insulation blown into the attic it still looses enough heat to cause ice damming and I didnt get ahead of the roof clearing.

Compound that with the snow drought in dec/jan and I got lazy and didnt get around to moving hte patio furniture away from the house, now its buried and I have to work around it to clear drifts.

We're getting a Tennessee blizzard. I bet there's a 1/4" of wintery mix on the ground and more coming down. :faint:

Keep venting Jeremy. Make sure you get some extra sleep at night. That weather tires you out! It is always good to vent a little but don't let it get you down. And I'm serious when I say all this. Get some extra sleep. Drink water. Take some vitamin D supplement, seriously. Everyone gets a lot less of it in this type of weather and it has an effect. Days are getting longer, but winter could be here for another whole month, to a month and a half if it's like last year. So we will get through it. Hopefully you guys getting all the snow will get some warmer temps and it will melt some of it.

But even if you don't you will get through it. You obviously have to adjust everything in your life and turn almost all attention to keeping dug out and cleaned up. But look at it as a challenge and take it head on man.

I laughed a little when the news report said "unimaginable" about the snow in Boston. And reported that people didn't know what they were going to do if they got more snow. Well. What they will do is deal with it. No choice. And they will get through it.

We have not had as much snow as you, but more cold temps. Along with working full time, an occasional side job, and working a little in the woods, I'm taking care of three places through the winter. My two and my parents. Pace yourself, rest often, and you'll get it done.

No doubt. It makes life tougher. Harder. Getting through those times can often make you better! And you will be just fine our friend. We know what you are made of. Not a doubt here.

I knew a guy that every morning would nudge a runner off the road. Well one day he bumped him with his mirror, he thinks, went back to check on the guy. The guy wore him out with a mag light.

What does wore him out with a mag light mean?

I'm a part time runner. Runners aren't doing anything wrong, running anytime of the year, and I hate drivers that can't show some consideration for us. Lots of room for all. And most runners move way over for cars and trucks weighing in at thousands of pounds. Sometimes people need to learn a little more patience. I don't know any runners that cause anywhere near the problems some folks do with their outdoor activities. To each his own.

And if you wanna give me a hard time in any way, by all means pull on over, and your going to get what you TRY to give!

Where is the just permanently mad smiley when you need it?!

The problem with runners is those short shorts.
