Kathy and I stopped by our local Harley shop. They finally finished the estimate on our bike after the deer hit last Wednesday. Can't believe it's almost 8 grand. Hopefully painted parts won't be too long. I'm missing it in this nice weather 20250613_211515.jpg

Less than I would have guessed...that fork assembly at less than $700 is a shocker (if complete)
Yeah hopefully nothing critical holds the job up...would stink to lose a bunch of prime riding season for 1 or 2 backordered parts!
Do you know if insurance has approved the repair?

Looks much better! Amazing how water can move rocks, even fairly big ones. A load of stone is exactly what you need, hope the neighbor comes through for you.

Huh, didn't know "Fedners" were a thing, much less pinstripping one

Some of those prices look amazing. If you bought the wind deflectors alone they would cost much more.

This will be the 3rd time it needs done again, since the house was built (and ditch put in) in late 2023. It is rare when that ditch doesn't have water running in it to begin with. At the rate it loses stone from the spring thaw and hard rains, the culvert itself will be full of stone.

I'm only half joking - the neighbor across the street (downstream) has been the recipient of a lot of stone in their drainage area. Not sure they are happy about that since it has held its own well over the 13 years I've been here, with just the overgrowth they maintain. What I really need is for the ditch area to grow back enough deep rooted greenery to hold the soil in beneath the stone. (actually, if that place was still a swamp, there wouldn't be this issue - but I can't turn back time).

Snuck a ride on a 1974 YZ 80 last night at my brother's neighbors house. It smoked like it was supposed to and had that sound that just took me back. Funny how it made the motocross races of old seem like yesterday. 20250613_201340.jpg

It's goofy for sure. I'm thinking "seed pod" but it's obviously an oak and the fluffy thing ain't an acorn.

That's a gall (spelling?) we had them all over our red oaks a few years back...it's from some sort of bug that crawls out of the ground and lays it's eggs in the tree, somehow this thing gets made!
    Edit:
Wait, no, that looks different than what we had!
