Probably perfect for that. No weight it will mow down anything that is a a tree.

The nice thing about January in VT. is that out of state relatives tend to not come visit.

I was in the same "forgetting your anniversary" boat myself, wildwest .

But, I think it didn't matter since it was the first year after my divorce.....the ex and I had some business to take care of on the phone. At the end of the conversation, she asked "Do you know what today is?" ...........nope......

As our dogs were running around last evening, burning off their steam so to speak, the lab mix ran into a concrete base and yelped.

This morning, he is favoring his leg and has to raise it when he walks around. He is very still and quiet.

He really likes to run a lot. I've always said we should have called him forest gump since whenever he goes somewhere, he's running!

Nice couple of days. Have the windows open. Air seems clean. My boiler is acting up, no hot water. A repairman made a fix, but the problem returned as soon as he drove away. Son called the manufacturer. Turns out there is a recall of a part that causes the same issue we are having. I don't know why they don't contact the homeowner about these recalls. Also, why doesn't the company that we have for our annual maintenance know about the recalls and be proactive? So no hot water until the furnace manufacturer contacts our maintenance company and arranges for the replacement of affected parts.

That is a lot of water! I hope you dry out soon. Might have to put larger rocks around that pin.

Yes I have one. It has its uses. It can plow into chest high weeds and just eat. It doesn't like uneven ground. I have to replace the strings quite often if I hit rocks. Mine doesn't have a spool, instead three strings are looped through a hole and post setup so it takes a couple minutes to replace them.

That's similar to my experiences, especially hvac. Nobody knows how to do their job but they do know how to overcharge. Hope you get it fixed quickly!

I took two days off to hit the weed eating before we go into a heat wave. It is already very dry here and I have to be careful of fire. My Echo trimmer can get weeds stuck between the trimmer head and the shaft casing. I have had them come out smoking and starting to burn. My Husky doesn't do that so it gets the nod. Two 8hr days of weed eating, I need to go to work and rest up! LOL

Monday and Tueday were rainy. Finally got 2 dry days and the water level has dropped. I put on my rubber boots and went out to start repairs. The water doesn't look deep, but it's a 6-12"deep where it is running and then there are some good sized basins - like that obvious one over on the right in the first picture where it is at least 18" deep (I didn't go wading over there - LOL). You can't see basin over on the left because it is between the greenery, but I dang near went down to my knee in water as I was salvaging bigger rocks that had gotten swept down there. That basin was NOT there last summer, so it surprised the heck out of me.

    Where property pin is now.jpg

This is the undercut of the bank before I started. That pin and stake in the above picture used to be on the bank. Additionally the whole thing used to be filled with rock and stone like what you can see at the bottom of the picture (which is the upstream portion).

    Undercut of bank.jpg

I hang onto weird things, and in this case, a used cinder block was the thing I chose to go around the pin. Then I dug that big concrete pillar out from where it was resting and set it next to the cinder block. I had 3/4 of a 40# cat litter bucket of fill under the back porch, so I poured it into the holes of the block as well as the between the bank and block. I also had another piece of concrete left over that was a perfect match for going around the stake, with a pointy end going down into the ground - LOL.

Added some larger rocks that I salvaged from downstream to the undercut as well as from rock that was in the middle of the channel blocking the flow. Filled in with some smaller stone from my "holding" area too. Oh, and in this picture, you can see where the deep basin was formed. Perspective is everything, and unfortunately I don't have the knack for presenting that in pictures. It is basically a jungle in that area, with most plants being over my head. They also hang over the water channel quite a bit. That circled area, where the water formed the downstream basin doesn't look deep, does it?

Is it great? no, but should hold thru the rains today and tomorrow. I'm hoping the owners of the property next door will have their guy bring a load of stone to shore it up again like they did last year. After all, that isn't my property - but I do have a vested interest in it.

Brought him to a vet yesterday. X-rays revealed no damage or fractures. Pain and calming pills.

That's good to hear. Just got to keep him calm a few days.
