I mowed the lawn for the first time on 4/17 last year, which was a little early. I don't think we will even be close by 4/17/25.

I'll have mowed 3-4 times by 4/17. It needs it tomorrow.

I don't recall when I mowed first in 2024, but probably close to now. The grass is greening up well, but it will need a few weeks. I don't think I'll need to mow before the GTG at Adam's.

Yesterday was the first day I didn't get snow showers. Yesterday it got up to 41* and was sunny , but the wind made it feel colder. First sunny day since (checks solar production) April 4th. Today it start clouding up again and we are supposed to get snow/mix/maybe turn to rain again all weekend and in the 30s & 40s. This will be the 4th weekend in a row that has been nasty like that (no ice predicted, which is nice).

Last year it was well into May. I remember seeing the "no mow May" campaign and laughing because the yard didn't need mowing anyway - I think it was 4 weeks in or so before that happened. I do know I didn't quite make a complete no mow May, but it was close.

We caught a break in the rain....time for some dirt work. I have several places in the yard that need filled and seeded and the garden needs tilled. I'll till a couple gardens for the neighbors while the tiller is on the tractor too.

Grass is still brown. Burning a fire in the morning and one in the evening. Ice fishing on US/CA border lakes is open through the 15th. Ice is still pushing 30”, but snow is getting thin in places along the snowmobile trails. I plan on planting some kale, lettuce, spinach, and radish on Monday after a few warm days through Sunday.

The day was set aside for a new Generac installation, that included a coordinated set up of a propane tank. The crew didn’t complete the work soon enough for the inspection sign off so its all done except for the “go” signal.

to stay out of the way, i was once again cutting and splitting and making headway into clearing the trees. Lookin* for some white oak remnants long enough to mill some 4x5 planks for our bridge repair. Flooding at the Ohio river has our creek a5 the tree farm up around 9 feet .
