Drinking crappy spirits will do that.

We stay at home, have fur a long time. Too much stupidity going on otherwise.

Yesterday I moved a couple of loads of firewood. I'll need to finish off bring up the honey locust shorts to the patio stacks and put the tractor and trailer away as I left it out last night.

    I'll get that done now.

Yesterday on NYE at about 2 pm my friend, Frank, passed away. He was the elderly man and his wife that we would hang out with, watch sports together, go out to eat with, I would do chores around their house and he'd give me tools, push mowers, etc, but mostly it was just fun to talk with him. You could talk with him about anything. He was great. He befriended my late father as they met through the ALS society. Frank, like my father, had ALS. Not certain of his age when he passed, but age didn't matter with him as he was easy to talk with about anything. Anyway, his health went down hill really quickly about 2 months ago. He fell, a lot. He got taken to a nursing home as a result of multiple falls. He got a spinal infection. He stopped eating, and couldn't keep his meds down because he wasn't eating. On Dec 7th we went to their condo, and picked his wife up, she doesn't drive anymore, and we went out to dinner with her and then visited with him at the nursing home. We had great conversations as always but you could tell he was declining quickly.
Apparently some of his friends stopped by the 29th and said he looked really bad.
They were not wrong. He's in a better place now and in no more pain.

    RIP Frank.

My aged out helper Richelle is home for a bit, so last night after dark, we did a bandit polar bear plunge. Got to our knees and exited with undo speed.
She told me she set aside today to spend with me. How can I say no. Lunch at the American Legion, with the intention to buy her a better fitting motorcycle helmet, but the dealership was closed.

we spent some time at the indoor range, where we shot a couple 22 revolvers, Glock 19, and three of my Smith and Wesson Performance Center units. She didn’t care for the recoil of the .45 Shield.

then we stopped by the chainsaw shop to drop off five chains.- promised to be ready tomorrow afternoon. Richelle is such a curious sort. Looking at everything in the building including the business cards from local firewood and tree service providers.

Good conversation on her fellowship at Whiteman AFB, where her group did analysis of an Israeli bomb for the purpose of a training program for US personnel. Working this summer for a provider to local Navy facility, so we may have one more summer before she launches into life. Any her age, I was trying to score an aluminum intake for my Challenger. She will have her Masters in design engineering in four years of work.

tonight I watched the postponed Notre Dame Georgia game. Ohio State is next. Both have shown they can lose to un ranked teams. So which one shows up? Something that can’t be said for Indiana. OSU was pure savages last night. It’s a shame their fans are “special “ in some way.

Horkn that is a shame. Last half of December , around seven people I am friends with, or worked with passed away. My 94 year old neighbor is similar to your friend. He is still going strong considering. I don’t want to think of how it will not be the same here.
