If they saw it was janky, they could've jimmy rigged it to hold up until the replacement arrived. And they should've said something

Only thing I can think of is I'm the only one that ever has cash (no atms out here lol), which gets dolled out to them when they need it. And I'm out. Maybe he's refilling the home till? And we increased kids chores and she's now getting allowance, she doesn't accept personal checks or debit cards

The heating guy made the trek up to Gilford and found out the part wasn't the exact part from the schematic that he had given them over the phone (I was literally standing there when he called them so I know he gave them all the info). Funny enough, it was the other element. However, it was just a matter of changing the connecor, which he was able to do, and he installed it yesterday afternoon.

I was shocked by the bill - shocked it was so low. I said something about the part must have been a really cheap part and I didn't understand why it wouldn't be a "just change it" out part of regular maintenance. Nope, that was $140 part. So, it turns out he didn't charge me for his time driving to/from Gilford (which is easy 2.5 hours round trip if he spent no more than 5 minutes in the supply place itself). He made a morning outing of it with his son, going out to breakfast and checking out some things.

I think this guy has a customer for life :)

Black Bears seem to be moving into the neighborhood. I saw one on the bridge about a half mile from here a few days ago. My neighbor saw a momma and cub walking on the rail tracks that the bridge crosses. Another neighbor 2 doors down said bears had been in the garbage and wrecked her bird feeders. Maybe that's why fish and wildlife say don't feed birds after 4/1.

Yeah, the DNR tries to get folks to stop feeding birds in spring and summer. I don't think it causes a problem as it is still a rare thing but if 3 or 4 reports come in for the state, they think it is a huge problem. The bears did one time a few years ago tore up a bunch of bee hives but have not been by the hives since. Lots of reports of bear last summer but haven't heard of any so far this year. They can come on my place. I don't mind. I'd rather have them than the turkeys.
