 The girls know how to make the best of it. One picked chocolate cake and the other yellow. Both had Mom's buttermilk frosting on them. Had them after lunch today, which was Mom's home made Chicken club saniches. My son and I were hanging out watching TV after lunch.

We went up to our camp in VT this weekend. I cut down a Balsam that was getting to be of size to become a menace to our camp yesterday. The kids had fun with a good smokey brush fire today. We had it going about 20x better last night. Just about blocked out the moonlight. When the nearest neighbor is about 1/2 mile away you can do such things without concern. We had a good time even though it didn't get out of the single digits yesterday. It felt downright hot in the sun today at 17 degrees. All I needed was 2 layers of black thermals on my back.

Well Paul, ya ain't gonna like me now!
It sure seems kinda ironic, even border line hypocritical, that is, I just read your post on page 4 of the thread "this is what people are gripping about". The one where you mentioned all the smoke coming from the OWBs that you saw on your ride home??
Tell me. How is it that your fire's pics are any different??? Same results, no?

The nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away from my camp, we have a few hundred acres to dilute the smoke before it gets anywhere. If you want to discuss it on a global sense then yes we were making a mess, can't argue that. On a local sense there is no one to bother. The camp is 400' back in the woods and you can't see it from the road so any people driving by will be none the wiser to it. On a wider local sense we are not in a valley so there isn't the potential for an inversion, we aren't smoking out a box canyon.

I love it here and Colorado because of that! Especially after a snow, the light just reflects more.
