Worked on my first day off. I WILL have the day off tomorrow to get things done around the house/property. Unfortunately ground is very wet. Fortunately the L5030 has R-1 agriculture tires. I can work in the area that will have to be finished off with a landscape rake when things dry up so that it can be planted.

After having two tractors with the R4 industrial tires then two with R1 ag tires, I'll never go back to R4s.

Years ago, with my ex fiance, we had a springer spaniel in WI right before moving to Maine, and the pup got bordatella, kennel cough while she was being kept at the vet when she got fixed. I demanded free medication for this because she got it at their facility. We were given the meds at no cost.

That's interesting because everyone I know or talked to before buying my tractor told me to go with industrial tires. I bought the tractor during the 'vid and that year Massey only sold them with Ag tires. There would be one shipment that year to the dealers, no special orders, you get what you get type of thing. The only thing I don't like about the Ag tires is they tear up the gravel driveways if I'm not careful. I'm curious about your thoughts on Ag vs Industrial?

I agree. They aren't good at anything.

If you do a lot of pavement work get R4, otherwise get R1.

Ag tread will provide the best traction, but can tear things up for sure...the R4s are a comprimise between ag tread and turf tires...kinda like "all terrain" tires for your truck, some people also refer to them as "no terrains"

I prefer huge the traction advantage of the ag tires over being more gentle on the yard or driveway with the industrial tires. My tractor isn't used for mowing lawn. I till gardens with a 60" tiller, move sand and black dirt with my loader. Drag trees ect. Oh, and plow snow.

I can't speak to the tractor tires, but good AT tires on trucks will do nearly everything very well. Now purposely playing in mud with AT's is asking for it. In most cases.

I had vision of there being an exemption in the boarding contract going thru my head. So that is cool that they will cover it. Sounds like they are trying to work with you, so I wouldn't write them off for future use.

I had a dog that had all his shots every year and was up to date and was always healthy. He still contracted Parvo (not from a kennel and he was rarely around other dogs). Our other dogs were fine. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason, just either an immune system is too effective for the weakened vaccine virus to stimulate protection, or if a dog is stressed it can damage its' immune system for a short time. We'll never know the true reason he contracted Parvo, but I suspect it was stress from major thunderstorms that ran for several days was the cause (he always panicked big time). That dog did recover from Parvo and lived a lot more years, but was a textbook case of no one's fault, it just was.

The more I look into this place the more bad situations I’m finding. Seems respiratory infections are quite common in dogs that have been there for extended periods. It’s great that they are offering the money but it would be better if they took action to make sure it doesn't happen again. Gus is young and most likely will be just fine. If he were an older dog and it took more of a toll on him I would be furious.

    Goodmojo has bad juju.

R4s offer better puncture resistance. If you are on dry, solid ground they are good. But if you need to work in wet conditions, or snow, the R1s will keep your production up. If you use R4s in those conditions, most of the time you will be frustrated and your production will go down.

I too was advised by many to get industrial tires. No thank you. I've used rigs with both but I grew up with ag and I still believe they are best. Yes, they can leave their mark so you must be careful with that but that is a minor thing unless you are constantly driving on lawns. Another thing is that is you live in the north, those with industrial tires almost always will need tire chains. Not so with ag tires.

That has been my experience as well. I've read that R4s are more puncture resistant but so far, I've not had a flat on any of my tractors. There is another tire available now for the last few years thats in between the R4 and R1 that looks like a great compromise. R3 I believe the are designated.

I have had both types.. Ags have better traction
BUT leave ruts in your yard that 15 years later will still knock a drink off your lawnmower.

my barn, where my tractor stays, is in my yard so I run R4s; every where I go crosses my yard. also haven’t lost tractor tire to nail, sticks, barb wire fence in 15 years.

    yes I have tire chains

my next type may be R3

edit I’m on mostly sand, only clay is in swamp, so dry ground. Have 4 wd if I start to slip, lock rear tire; then 4 wheel

That’s why the R4 are recommended. The traction bars aren’t as aggressive
