I feel my generation for the most part has failed it's children. Too many don't teach them right.
I feel guilty sometimes for not having a kid, Knowing that 3/4 of the stupid stuff I hear about and see on a daily basis wouldn't ever have happened had I raised a kid. For the record, I see only good things from FHCER'S, so that's encouraging.

Leave the house at 5am to get to work by 6:30am. Get a half mile up the road and come across this. Just enough not to squeeze by with the drop off on the other side. Had to turn around and go the longer way. Hopefully this will be ready to scrounge later in the week.

That Camry should be a wash, and change oil car. Once in a while get new tires and brakes. A bit of an appliance, but sometimes not exciting is a good thing.

I have worked in a high school for 20 years as a school secretary. Yes, when the Grade 8s show up, you wonder what their parents were thinking. You get a few of them that are always in the office and creating havoc. Five years later a Grade 12 student who is about to graduate shows up in the office and you wonder who it is. It is that Grade 8 student that was such a problem. I am not saying it happens to all of them but out of a school of 300 students from Grade 8 to 12, you will get one or two that you are glad to see the last of when they leave. Others disappear for awhile and then the next thing you know, they are the pharmacist, the public health nurse, the education assistant at the school, the new teacher, the hockey referee, the pizza shop owner or the manager of the grocery store or tire store. It is their children who you see coming into Grade 8 now.

I don't know if it because we are a rural school that has students from 5 communities or what but I know I have enjoyed my career working in the school. jrider will probably know what I am talking about.

Woodwidow my paternal grandmother was school teacher and over a dozen of aunts/uncles have followed pattern. Small schools are better because if Johnny and Julie can get away with it why can’t I. The number of children with challenges increases with number of children. Thank you for helping steer a generation of children; it’s what will remain in 75 years from now

That certainly would be bad if fire and rescue needed to get through. Those fall-over trees seem to happen frequently on our town roads. Not so much on the state roads. We had three storms this winter that did a heck of a lot of knockovers and leaners. Many of the leaners are still there and threatening. It is going to take a long time to recover from all the damage done during those storms. For areas directly on the ocean side, it will take two years to recover the docks etc. Most places around here don't have flood insurance. They are trying to decide if they can rebuild or just remain shut down. Some can't rebuild because they can't get the permits needed with today's rules. One man just up the road a mile from here is a lobsterman. He was selling lobster from his home, but I've noticed his sign is taken down. He has a lot of lobster traps piled up in his yard. At least his boat isn't in his yard.

My wife and oldest daughter are at some church thing, so me and our 3 year old daughter are home. She's giving me music requests and rocking out to them...all she asks for is 50's music...it sounds like a 50's hop in here.

I go to work early and come home late... working from home tomorrow so my commute won't be so long... probably go check it out if I have an hour of daylight left.

Sounds like your ground must still be froze.

Tue, frost was coming up from the driveway.

Wed, not a chance as temps were back in singles and 5" snowfall.

Thu, started out below zero temps.

Fri and after that, above freezing so back to frost coming out of ground where it's bare.

They do exist, there's just a lot lower percentage of them than there used to be.

Absolutely. I am in year 24 in the classroom. I love seeing my former students out in public, holding those positions you mentioned and so many more. I am friends with some on facebook who are well into their 30's. It won't be too long until I start having their kids in class!

I have coached AYSO soccer, little league baseball and basketball (none of the organizations were school sports). It’s a real surprise when we go out to dinner somewhere and as we wait for a table might sit and have a drink at the bar and a young man next to me says “Hi, Coach”. Many times I have to ask them to remind me of their name because obviously they’ve changed quite a bit. I am flabbergasted that they are now old enough to order alcoholic beverages. Time flies
Of course that was about 40 years ago:faint:

Yes, they lost some fishing shacks, considered historical, and can't be replaced due to permitting. Lots of piers and lobster pounds were lost or badly damaged. Take your wife to Arcadia National Park when you visit Maine. Outstanding place to visit
