Stephie, worth your time to call a Verizon Store and ask. I have verizon with kiddo on it and she has an Iphone--it uses a simm card. Yes, Iphone with simm card. If so, you can buy a cheap prepaid Iphone and switch put Mom's simm into it :)

The plan we have gives us new phones free usually every couple years. I always have otterbox protectors, new ones don’t have screen protection but with the right glass screen protectors it’s warranted if your screen gets broken. Only ever broke one screen.

:hair: - a run of bad luck, hope it is over. However, hope the run of good luck (ie, her being okay both times) continues.

Look on Amazon or ebay for reconditioned phones that are compatible with Verizon. Just make sure they are an official refurbeisher and that the seller has good marks. I've gotten two refurbs that were half the price of a new phone - on models that had only been out for 6 months.

Make sure it is a phone with 5G so that it will still work in a power outage (or in different states). I held onto my last Samsung 9+ too long. Which I found out during a 3-day power outage (and a trip to Kansas shortly after). The phone and text would not work off of towers that weren't USCellular - but if I got fairly close to one of their stores, suddenly it would all work. Only reason I upgraded to a Samsung A54.

Then once the phone arrives you just take them into the store and they can do all the transfer and sim swap. Of course, that may be difficult if your dad can't be there. Actually, in the meantime, see if your dad can add her to the Verizon account so she can do it without him.

Thanks for all the responses. Right now the plan is that I have a co-worker who is gifting me an iPhone 10. Plan is to swap his SIM card over and hope for the best. One Verizon store told us my mom would need a power of attorney to make any changes to the account.
Was talking to my brother and the accounts are something we need to work on as they are all in dad's name. Just finding time to deal with it can be a pain.

    Off to work now.:hair:

Woke up to about 2" of fresh snow this AM. Not unexpected, but suprised the weather forecast was actually right. Every other snow forecasted never happened.

I have this afteroon off. Lots to do. Moving some equipment around between the house and property. Meeting an excavation company at the property to look at installing a culvert and widening out an old logging road hill cut-in so I can improve the main trail/road out there. Hopefully make it back to town after that for some shopping.

It quit snowing this morning. We took a snowshoe walk and then I plowed the driveway as long as it wasn't snowing any more.

It's been snowing ever since!

A little snow last night, alas, not enough to get out the snowshoes.

Today consisted of bringing in firewood, little snow cleanup, exercise inside and out(dam cold), WalFart run for a few supplies, and lazen round on day off. :fire:

Chilly here today. Almost forgot what real winter felt like with m 9* this morning with a feels like of -5. Saw a few guys out on some sketchy ice fishing yesterday. Hoping we don’t get the midweek warm up in the forecast and get some good ice and snow instead of mix and rain. Stove full of ash at the moment. I’m not a few more days and I’ll be on some primo red oak for the rest of the season. Looking forward to football this weekend. These playoff games are more fun to watch than the superbowl to me

+4° here currently. No snow since Thursday so there's a big plus. I even saw this big orange ball in the Southern sky yesterday. Not sure what it was but I like it.

Cute little house in Harbour Grace. Less than $100K. Unfortunately it's very close to the road (but looks like a quiet little road) and doesn't seem to have much land with it. Good spot for someone who doesn't need, and/or can't maintain much outdoor space.

Went out and made a small grocery store run, guy some gas for the truck, then I used the roof rake and got the ends of the roof clear of the deep snow so that we don't have any ice damming. That's always a full arm workout. Pups sure loved running around while I was roof raking.

Then I used the shovel and cleared that last light fluff snow we got Friday am.

Watching some basketball now, then football this afternoon and evening. Pups are sleeping now.
