HA! We do have a bottle of door county wine that has been in the cupboard for years.

Way in the back of the cupboard......

Spent a couple hrs in the emergency urgent care this afternoon. I was carrying a large concrete block (maybe 75-80lbs) to my truck and got my foot caught on something just before I made it to the tailgate. I tripped and my finger ended up between the block and the tailgate. Pretty much popped open the bottom of my little finger. A few stitches later and I'm good to go. It's throbbing like an sob now that the numbing stuff has worn off.

Now I'm sitting on the couch sipping a tall glass of bourbon, listening to the wind howl outside. Hoping we don't lose power but prepared if we do.

That hurts just looking at it. I think I'd have a drink or 5 also. Hope you heal up quickly.

It's probably not good anymore. Only some wines are better aged.

There is no timeline of grief. I've read that the average time is one month for every year together. But that is just an average and each person is different so don't let anyone tell you that "you should be over it by now". It doesn't work that way.

Haha. After I bled through a couple shop towels I figured it was more than some tape or a bandaid could fix.

As you know from our conversations, the grief sometimes gets almost unbearable so we keep hoping for happier times.

For others: Mat and I have kept in touch since Barbara's death. We have both suffered through the loss of our loving wives. It is not easy.

Yikes! I cringed just reading about this. I hope that heals fast, and it should, but maybe keep some bourbon on hand.

    My condolences…

I suggest seeking help with the grieving of this loss.

Sometimes this is the hardest of all the losses and the broken heart can be the hardest to heal.

my own wife decided to just leave after 15 years. No one can understand why. My oldest daughter is concerned about my broken heart most of all. I’m not afraid to say that I’ve started counseling. Time will tell how much it helps.

Ouch:bug:. Hard to like that. Hopefully heals quickly for you. Agree with mat60 you need more than one glass of Bourbon!

My ex "found someone" after we had been together for 33 years. Although I despise him for what he did, I grieved for a good 5 years. Even now I have moments. "Losing" someone this way is probably as hard as if they had passed away. I can't even remember the good times without then going to thinking I lived a lie for those 33 years.

    Yeah….

that first meeting went real good.

the intake questions started going …

    “how do you identify?”

“do you identify as something other than male or female….”

I wanted to tell her “that line of questioning by YOU, as a licensed psychiatrist, is why we have some of the stupid stuff we do….”
