Spent the day with my cousin working with him and teaching him how to reload ammunition for his .308 ruger M77 International.

I told him we needed to figure out his seating depths last week.

he did the shooting last week.
    IMG_1029.jpeg

I had to confess I screwed up the math entirely.

    Today, I did the shooting.

the bottom two were the same powder charge, just a different seating depth. We moved the bullet closer to the landings.

the top four groups are different powder charges.

typical .308 150 gr soft point, Hodgdon H4895 powder. I told him I expected that specific powder charge 6 months ago when we started.

he was glad I didn’t cheat him of the experience.

Don’t see a lot of those. Mine is a Mark II in .308 also. Love the controlled round feed like an old Mauser.

So.. I cut out the cable today.. I stream most everything I watch.. Jill recorded a lot of cable shows.. but there's no sense in paying $160/month for something I am not utilizing.

It’s a nice shooting rifle. That’s for sure.

We dumped mediacom this year too. Saving us $100 per month. Added a mobile hotspot to the wife’s phone was $5/ month.

Mine shoots Remington 180 grain round noses quite well. My woods is so thick a 50 yard shot is about all I get.

My day was a gun day as well. Sporting clays shoot for a Mason lodge. Cloudy with some rain, but fun. Late in the game, one of my team mates noticed my Benelli has a full choke tube in. No wonder I was missing so many. Fortunately, I had my tubes and replaced it.
Another teammate made same mistake with a high end over under. Had full chokes in from a trap shoot sometime before. We still finished second.

Loaded the boiler for under fifties night. Catching up on my football recordings.

We’re setting him up with 150gr soft points for Minnesota deer. He’s good out to 200 yards easily.

doubt he’d shoot much past 100. If he ever learns what he’s doing, I could take him to 1100 yards with it. We’ve got access to land to go to about a mile.

he wants me to teach him to bang steel long range. Army taught me out to 1000 meters (1093 yards). I’ve shot some state long range matches to 1000yards.

my goal is to reach 1 mile now.

Another evening of getting skunked. I might as well take the decking off the dock and raise it since the fishing is so poor! I figure I've gone through close to 100 minnows with only one bite!

There was a very cold wind blowing off the lake. Hands got cold in no time at all once you dip them into the minnow bucket to get a volunteer to bait the hook. Can you say "wind chill"??? :D

No biggie, I had the little wood stove in the fish shack burning and temps were up to the backwoods savage comfort level!
