Well I guess that answers my question

Haha yeah whoever coined the original term didn’t account for how some people would interpret it…

I hadn’t heard about this so I just read about it. It seems that was a not-widely-adopted narrative that didn’t last long. Unfortunately I think this one has a little more staying power. Anyway thanks for pointing it out.

The weather and heat advisory makes it so miserable to just do anything outdoors. I’m ready for a cool down.

Since I’m running heavy and have all weekend to get to Wichita, I’m shutting down early and sitting out the heat. Less tire stress.

It's warmer here this morning at 68* than it was all of yesterday. And it is muggy out now where as yesterday it was not too bad even with the continual drizzle (after the first 1.5" of rain in the morning).

Well, some people will mention it in passing (for either position), but it can lead to some heated debates that the moderators would watch closely.

Give a general wave out the window as you pass thru. I have family just to the north (Bel Air) and just to the south (Derby) of Wichita. And if you see a grandma driving a cream colored Lincoln MKX, please be kind and forgive any slowness on her part.

Uggh, that is not the most traffic friendly of places to be at, but there are worse. Of course you are well experienced, so what looks like it will be a not-so-fun time for me is probably child's play to you.

I stopped early (relative). I started at 5:45 Am and made it past Memphis at least. I was hoping to get to Russellville AR. Forecast though for Saturday is 105*F but only 87*F for Sunday.

it’s already 93*F and not even 10:45 am.

I can get it to about 75*F with the screens in the windows blocking the sun.

I don't drive much anymore. Usually don't go more than 5 or 6 miles from home. Honestly, I am more afraid of not being quick enough to avoid someone else's bad moves. When I drive, I try hard to stay mindful of keeping my eyes on the road and avoiding distractions. No sightseeing, or cell phone activity. No munching while driving. I've never been ticketed for a driving infraction. But I have had accidents. I have been hit three times by trucks moving into my lane. They move up on my left, then move over crushing the side of my car. Twice on the same road. Nothing in the recent past.

I’ve actually delivered a Cat road grader into that site last year.

didn’t think it was that bad actually.

    Pretty much.

we’ve decided to sell the truck. Mainly due to wanting two years of W2 wages (2024 & 2025) for when we go for the construction loan building Glasir.

I was talking to a local guy who I hauled a machine for and he offered me a position for a decent enough wage, home every night by supper time and off Friday between noon to 3 PM. Every weekend off.. 45-50 hours a week.

with the 40-45% loss to my gross revenue YTD this year over last year. It makes sense.

I can't either. I drove a lot before cell phones, I cannot pay attention to the road, and like you said, other drivers and a cell. I've never had a dashboard computer gps thing either, sounds like the same distraction which is nerve wrecking.

It pi$$es me off to no end that there are a bunch of these big pines in front of mom's building and they're dying, and nothing will be done with them until they've rotted so much they're a danger. There could have been a lot of nice 1x6s in them.

Is there a reason you can't cut them?

Quite simply that someone else (housing corp) owns them. It's a shame they'll go to waste, because pines have become rare here. Our anthem references "pine clad hills" but they've become (mostly naturally, I believe) displaced by spruce and fir to the point you're not allowed to harvest them in the wild.

I have a couple healthy pine trees at my place, but they're not too big yet.

Any reason you can’t prune them?
