    Day 2 of staying home with Bentley. He has an intestinal problem. It was flying out both ends yesterday. The carpet cleaner got a workout. 2 shots and some oral stuff later he's better, but small amounts of water needed hourly. Poor guy.

    I work in a very violently cyclical industry. In my 13 years of professional work, I have witnessed a dozen layoffs easily, ranging from 20% reductions to just a head here or there. I have come to realize it is never about the employee. Whether it is a number on a piece of paper, or a higher up with an axe to grind, no one is safe. There is no such thing as loyalty in a publicly traded company.

    Yup. I was just doing a little complaining because I would rather go cut wood. :saw: I will have to wait is all. I went through a layoff about 20 years ago. Sucked. I barely kept my head above water with the help of family and friends while I went back to college and retrained into another field. So far I have had 4 careers since out of school and about 26 years of working.

    I was laid off on Monday the week of Christmas. Did not qualify for unemployment, but after I re-applied, it looks like I may get some benefits. They will not be retro to original filing date, but it could be worse.
