As I sit here waiting on the glue to dry, I’m struck by the thought that my grandson and granddaughter may never know the satisfaction of patching up their bicycle tube a long way from home and pumping it back up with the pump and patch kit they carried with them like we did. We don’t let them run loose like we did cause of kidnapping, abductions, human trafficking, and other depraved things done to children that wasn’t done back then. They’re not taught self sufficiency like we were. It’s a “call someone and pay for it” mentality now. There’s more but my old knees are aching from climbing up on my soapbox so I’m going to get down before I break a hip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And if they know if they if they are boys or girls to begin with. Sorry I knocked you off your soapbox but that’s the new fight.
Hauled a load to the dump. It appears a partially full jug of used oil was leaking. About 2 quarts ended up all over the trunk.
You really do need a truck for your day-to-day activities. I don't know if I missed this, but how did that new position work out for you?
Looks great but.........your'e a brave man using those knots along the edge of the drop leaf like that!
8 mile hike with the dog, all the way around a local lake. My dogs are barking. I should have brought my saw... I had to lift the dog over the downed tree. Almost back at the car.
Meh scrap lumber table challenge is probably a better way of putting it lol. The other side has nots too it was kinda a loosing proposition either way.
Looks like the grass has been cut already. Don't even have the grass turning green here yet...still snow in lots of places!
Worked with the guys on our home site today. Where to build the house, septic etc. they had a nice vehicle GPS system and we drove the yard. Last fall the wife and I staked where we’d like the house to go. With the LIDAR overlays ets, it was like we’d know exactly where the previous house had been at. due to the old house most likely having the foundation just collapsed in on itself, the work to have it excavated out, back filled with clean fill and compacted will likely force us to pick a different location entirely. the “working space” for a mound system is like 30’ x 100’ in addition to the house footprint. the discussion also was to rent their John Deere 245B with a forestry mulcher to basically clear the land and chip the junk wood right back to nature. yeah, that’s a 56,000 lb machine. But for the 2 days worth of work that it would take for me to clear everything dead, well worth the investment. I’ll know in two weeks. (edited to correct machine. A John Deere 245 is half the size of a cat 245.)
FarmerJ start a new thread I had a feller-buncher after a tornado for a week cost me $0 got 4 cord of processor firewood and 2 tractor trailer of chips! I should have taken more firewood This is on 12 acres.. took all softwood and broken trees off 12 acres of woods. Dozer back dragged trails I put chips on woods were unsafe every time wind blew branches came out of trees and threatened my kids! 15 years later, still clearing EAB and Dutch elm disease trees; Still can’t keep up!
