Wife wanted two more rows so… Cutting them wasn’t too bad. Used semichisel and they were #1 premium’s so not tons of cracks for rocks to live. -saw chips because I don’t let it get dull enough to throw dust.
Update.. Many know this.. others might not. Had knee surgery on the 9th.. saw the Dr. yesterday, and the news ain't too great. ACL is shot, cartilage gone, bad arthritis in the joint. Dr says it'll be between 3-5 yrs before requiring knee replacement. Said he could do the ACL surgery, but it wouldn't change anything long'ish term, and require a lot of recovery/therapy. So.. looks like my brace is semi-permanent, and I'll get by as well as I can. Hate bringing crappy news.
I feel your pain. 2016 was told (long story=lots of plates and screws and a pin in my pelvis) 3-5 years and a hip replacement will be due. 2018 meniscus repair and scraped put a bunch of destroyed cartilage from under kneecap from same incident, have my buddy art living comfortably in there at that time, knee replacement about 5 years. Still all original equipment, there’s good days and there’s bad, today wasn’t on the good list.
Sorry to hear this, Chaz. Shame you have to suffer for a few more years before getting the surgery. Hang in there.
Built a fire in the fish shack tonight and fished for awhile. Kept two walleye. Sure beats sitting outside by the fire pit! But.........I should have put an outdoor light on it.
Thx guys. tree killer I understand the good/bad days.. have some experience there as well. Not typically physically over the years.. but one manages as one can. NortheastAl I don't know what "suffering" might be involved.. I'm not in a "bad way", in my personal opinion. Some things just need done differently now. Nothing keeping me down..
Chaz All I got to say about it is this.. Ask a surgeon he will say operate Physical therapist will prescribe therapy Physician will give you a prescription it’s your body, you choose what you want to work with. I always start with PT and climb the ladder IME no surgeon makes it better than God did first time..
A bad attitude won't make the situation any better. Can't say as I'm happy about the outcome, but it is what it is. Thx Dennis. True enough. Going through the VA, there's less financial motivation to perform the surgery, but your point is well taken. "If the only tool you have is a hammer."
Split some wood yesterday. A beautiful cool day made for good working conditions. Got the big stuff all split.
I did maintenance on my splitter. changed the oil, checked clamps, blew the cobwebs off it and oiled the rails. It is indeed beautiful weather for splitting. I hope to get moving on my pile in the next week.
Splitter is still at friend's place, and it rained nearly all day here. I may still be in recovery, bit it didn't stop me from working on the chainsaw. Removed and cleaned the carb, although I didn't notice anything bad, and the hesitation persisted. Tweaked the hi & lo settings, runs nice, got rid of the problem at full throttle. Won"t be fully certain of the tuning till it's in a log though. Soon.. very soon.
