Not a big change yet. Just the early ones. I see a lot of cottonwood turning with maybe 25% yellow now. All leaves are gradually starting as they have lost their deep green color, except for the oaks. Not much red colors yet but that will happen very soon.

Caffeine going in. Will go to almost 80 today. 85 tomorrow. Nice weather again. Yesterday was beautiful too. Lots of stuff to catch up on. Errands to run, mowing to do. Tractor stuff to get done. You hoarders have a great day. Have some fun!

Some errands ran and an appointment taken care of today. Then lunch at Five Guys. What? It was right there on the way home!

A decent amount of mowing done with the Kubota L5030 afterwards. (Between running the youngest around.) Busy day for all of us today. But enjoyable for sure.:tractor:

Started out to plane the bottom of the barn door in the kitchen that was sticking. Found the planer blade cracked. Replaced that. Planed the door and got it hung back up.
Went to toolbox to get some tools to adjust the rail stops on it and jerked the drawer out falling on my toes. One of the slides busted.

Sat on the zero turn moaning about my smashed feet and when I got back up to bravely face the world, my shirt tail caught one of the handles as I was dismounting, causing me to get a real sudden unplanned face to concrete shop floor look under my work bench I wasn’t planning on.

Went to town in the old 49 pickup to get new drawer slides and come out to find some young kid parked about 1/4” from the drivers door and I’m parked way out in the cheap seats. Slid across the bench seat to get in.

Got home, installed the slides on the drawer, ( twice due to installing them upside down the first time as the drawer was upside down on the bench when installing) with rivets.

Put the post hole digger on the ford tractor using the Kubota’s loader to raise and position it. Easiest time that I have ever installed that PITA.
Till I raised up from putting the lynch pins in the 3 point arm and bounced my head (soft contrary to my wife assurances that I’m hard headed) off the bottom of the bucket (which I CAN attest is actually hard).

Went to shop fridge, got a cold beer, gave hateful looks to the tractors, zero turn, and toolbox and limped my headache into the house to sit in my recliner. With my beer.

Wife come downstairs, sees me, and says,
“Little early on that beer aren’t you? You forgot to adjust the kitchen door stop.”

I have experienced many days like this over the years. The only thing you can do is look back at them and laugh.

Like the day I thought I was making such great progress with my very nice backhoe, and forgot how high up I had left the backhoe bucket, and walked into it with my head.

Although I felt bad for you, your post made me remember some of my days like that and laugh.

All mowing with the big mower done. Moved some dirt from piles into low spots. Getting hot out now. Time to relax in the AC until it cools down.

WWW is deriving way too much satisfaction from the fly strips he hung up   , flies are really bad this fall and come in every time I let the dog in or out, and he's caught 4 so far. And, the strips are above my point of view (sink and ceiling fan) but low enough to catch my hair. Any bets on when they catch me?

Wow! Sorry to hear about all of that but I'm thinking the stars were out of alignment or something yesterday because........

About 2-3 weeks ago, I started a list of items needed/wanted to make it worthwhile for a menards run. This involves 100 miles one way plus the other stops.

The temps were in the mid 50's when we left so I wore pants. Upon arrival, I reached to my back pocket and where I normally keep my wallet, I was greeted with a very empty feeling! :headbang:

The only thing I had was my list which I picked through and re-prioritized. Wallet was home in the pocket of my shorts. Sad part is that I drove the truck for the bigger stuff and ended up getting poor mileage. By the time the foodstuffs run portion of the trip was over, 99 and the puppy (now 5 months) had had enough.

When I got home, I drove the mini truck out to the minnow trapping spot. I found a blow over blocking the trail near the end of my trip and had to turn around and take the long way there....add another hour to the trip. The ditch was a little too deep to drive around the tree; the truck would probably still be there if I had tried that.

Now, about that idiot that parked next to your truck Lennyzx11 ............ I think the easiest solution would be for you to keep the truck at my place so that never happens again! :D

We were expecting some rain today too. Nothing. But the temperatures cooled down, which is nice. And rain went a little South of us.

I'm not much of a story teller, but here we go. This one had my wife laughing near hysterics at me so I'll try to replicate.

Background: I'm a teacher. 7 years ago when I bought my house I took a job driving a truck in the summer delivering sheet metal to help with the move in costs (I was single) and more or less I enjoyed it. Since then I've enjoyed my summers going on a mountain climbing campout trip w my brother and our friends and separately taking a big motorcycle camping trip.
Now I'm a married man and a dad. Anyone w kids in daycare can tell you its an arm and a leg. We have our second child on the way with January- and daycare is going to double putting it well above what I pay per month for our mortgage. I'm not alone in this, but it still sucks.

Context: My wife suggested I get a part time job over the summer to bring in some cash - which was a great idea but we had travels planned to visit my family in Newfoundland to introduce her and our daughter. We had a trip planned in 2020. I'm not sure if anyone heard of something called Covid.. might have been regional.... but anyhow we couldn't go. So a good portion of my family never met my wife and daughter before. Blah blah blah..... I said its unlikely I can get a job doing anything for 6 disjointed weeks in the summer... who would hire me?

Present: I live in a good neighborhood- nice downtown I can walk to. A few bars and restaurants. I decided to email a local brewery out of the blue and ask if they needed help. So a week goes by and someone contacts me back and asks my experience. I said I go to restaurants and bars but not often any more and that was the extent of my experience. A few more days go by and they said stop in and talk to so-and-so about a position.

So anyhow- next Saturday I have my first day. I'm to show up at 4:30 and if anyone is still reading- I don't know what I'll be doing and I have no idea what they pay.

So my wife was in stitches laughing and she goes: so you contacted a brewery and got a job at a place that wasn't hiring, don't know what you'll be doing and didn't event think to ask what you'll be making?

In any event- it's close enough I can walk and if I can give some space in the budget after daycare for a bit... dad's gotta do what a dad's gotta do.
