I went to the mailboxes on Monday, I was shocked! It's usually all brown and crispy here but this year all the pastures are still green. Cool!! I didn't even hook the hose up this year

Some big rain yesterday with lots of fireworks. Power went out for a short time but all is well. It is 71 this morning and that was our low. Sticky...

    Nada here, rain wise.
Heading for a toasty railyard somewhere. I think Im on a road job, so not on my feet for 10+hours. And it's 10° cooler in the woods.

Tanking up on water and electrolyte.
Stay safe everyone...its gonna be rather warm here in the northeast.

Hauled another bed-load up for the winter stack yesterday, hope to be able to grab another today. Its nice to see room for new wood opening up on the 5 cord stack.

One disadvantage of living in a one-horse town is that there is only one main road going through the village. Coming home from the hospital yesterday and got caught in the traffic stopped due to a structure fire a mile from my home. Sat for almost half an hour before they were able to reroute traffic through the school parking lot to bypass the scene. Building/business was a total loss but luckily there was only one minor injury (owner had some first-degree burns). Definitely feel for the business owners (small-town family-owned garage) and the first responders having to battle this in the heat/humidity. The local community rallied quickly by providing water/refreshments on scene. Lots of old buildings up here that would never pass code by today's standards.

We have a lot of buildings around here too, that wouldn't pass code... in fact, I'd guess most of rural Maine IS those buildings. Yeah, the heat outside must be unbearable while fighting fires. Towns are sure lucky to have their volunteer fire fighters.

The mutual aid of the small towns is interesting to watch, especially with how they move to cover other towns who have sent their own resources to assist another jurisdiction. Like everything else though, they are hurting for people.
