I've been trying to cut at least one chainsaw gas tank full of wood every day since Saturday. So far so good. I am "2 days ahead" right now. Very sore and slow moving and with today's threatening rain, it's going to be a task to get out there and cut....

Anyway, last evening after finishing up for the day, I was making my way back to the indoors when lo and behold, my fox friend was cutting across the lawn and headed right to me! It seems that 5' is the closest it'll get to me while I face it but a little closer if my back is turned.

I couldn't tell if it was a female; don't know how large their teats form but couldn't see any exposed.

We have some company showing up next week; it would be nice for them to see it. I'm hoping that little ones are involved and will eventually show up also.

Got my load of ash split up this morning. Split it all by hand...50% swing and it blew apart. Done in 30 minutes. There's 2-3 more loads of it out there that need cut and loaded. If the weather stays decent I may go get some Saturday morning. If I get 2 more loads I'll be back up to a 3 year supply, which I haven't been at for a while.

Still waiting on another gravel delivery. :headbang:

Almost always in full bloom for Memorial Day here.

Working on cleaning out a clog in a septic pipe at my mom's house. Combo of PVC and cast iron pipe and of course the blockage is in the cast iron part passing through the foundation with the access rusted solid. And it's old, which usually means fragile, whether it looks it or not. Septic is a beehive, not title 5. Man thee mosquitos find that stinky water fast when you get the cover dug off.

I managed to get some sawdust raked up before the rains hit in earnest and lasted all day long so far.

Yes, we had a bear run by our gully during a Labor Day BBQ (years of drought), they all saw it but I was in the kitchen and missed it.

That was my thought. We've had over an inch of rain here today. We're supposed to get more even still. The rain won't stop until 1am tomorrow.

Then the heat will kick in.. 50's today, 70's tomorrow, 80's over the weekend, then about 90 Monday and Tuesday.

I'm about done with filling my woodshed for 2023-24. Need 1 trailer load yet. I want to finish that before it gets too hot out.

Outdoor work waits. Will be happy when rainy spells end but not happy with the predicted heat for next week.

When we first moved here 28 years ago the mosquitoes would eat you alive, the past few years I haven’t seen any. I don’t know why.:tears:

I’ll gladly sent you a few thousand! They haven’t started here yet but the black flies are hungry.

I had Bible study this morning followed by doing a little bit of food shopping on the way home. I had barely finished lunch when my wife mentioned the wood chuck was back, hanging around our deck and gazebo. It is no more. My 60+YO 22 was up to the task.:rootintootin::rootintootin:

I find ventilated wood chucks to be much more soothing than non-ventilated ones... :D
