“A pastor of a small church would occasionally call on one gentleman to pray, and every time this one particular guy would pray, he would end with the strangest statement, “And, oh Lord, prop us up on our leaning side.”

Finally, the pastor pulled him aside, and he said, “I love the way you pray, but I don’t understand your little closing phrase. What are you talking about – prop us up on our leaning side?” He responded, “Well, Pastor, I’m a farmer. I live out on the farm and, you know, I live in the country. I’ve got an old barn, and it’s been there a long time. It’s been through a lot of weather, and a lot of storms, and a lot of bugs have eaten at it.”
He said, “I got to looking at it one day when I was riding on my tractor, and I noticed that it was leaning to one side. So I thought to myself, oh my goodness! The barn is leaning, and it’s a matter of time before the whole thing falls.

He continued, “So, you know what I did? I went and got some pine beams, and I propped it up on its leaning side.” He said, “It still leans, and probably always will. But I propped it up on its leaning side. And it’s not going to fall down because I propped it up on its leaning side. And I got to thinking about it.
When I was on the tractor, Pastor, and I was riding in the field, I thought about the kind of year I’ve had, and some of the storms I’ve been through, and some of the people that are bugging me, and eating away at my joy and eating away at my spirit. And I just got to thinking, you know, I’m still here! I’m still standing after all that stuff I’ve been through. The storms, and the howling winds – they couldn’t topple me. I’m still standing by the grace of God.”

He concluded, “From time to time, I find myself leaning. Leaning toward my old desires, leaning toward anger, leaning toward becoming bitter or hateful at the people who are bugging me, or leaning toward going back to the old habits and the old life I used to have. And when I feel myself start to lean toward that tendency, I just remember that old barn, and I pray out loud - "Lord, thank you for propping me up on the leaning side."

Weekend is almost here. Got a basketball game about an hour away this evening.

Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. I need to do a little maintenance on the boiler but that won't take long and will wait until the afternoon for the air to warm up and the boiler to cool down some. Need to get some sort of project lined up for tomorrow AM.

    White stuff :BrianK::shiver:

Well, they called for 4 inches ending this evening....at this rate, there might not even be 1 inch in town, which should mean more or less none when I get home.

I'd rather have a dusting when it's time to clear my 400' driveway, but the photographer in me wants either none, or a few inches. A few inches makes for nice winter scenes, a dusting just makes everything look dirty.

Hopefully I'll have heat and plumbing done this year so it's more akin to a house than camping, but I daresay I'll be staying with mom part time for the forseeable future. Why drive home every night when it's only me there, and in the wintertime it is nice to have a 4 mile drive to work instead of almost 60.

Oh boy, I had no idea your new house was so far. What will become of your grandparents house and is yours and theirs on separate lots?

Had a few moments of really missing grandmother and coming to terms with the fact that she's gone and some of our routine activities will never be the same again for her absence. Bad as it sounds to say, I was more or less unaffected by grandfather's death, we never had much of a relationship. More than anything I'm glad he's not in any more pain.

    Thanks for asking.

Our neighboring Amish Community in Unity lost their general store to fire yesterday afternoon. This was a very popular store with lots of general merchandise and a very good bakery, famous for their Wednesday doughnuts. They have no insurance. for some reason, it goes against their beliefs. They promise to rebuild. The Amish have been well accepted here. They often can be seen locally with their horse and buggy going to work on some carpenter projects.

Zillow has my house listed twice as two separate dwellings since like 2015, 2 identical homes regarding beds/baths/sq ft. And they're always different zestimates. :loco:

For real, what does go into the zestimates for 2 exact same dwellings to be valued differently? :picard:

I quit checking zillow a couple of years back due to there gross inaccuracies. No faith in them here.

A little bit of everything got done today, a cold day! Replaced my daughter’s battery in her little SUV for her. (Aren’t engineers and designers suppose to be the smart ones? :picard:) Moved firewood in. Got a workout in. Warmed up the CAT 426 while doing said chores and then got it going to move some snow from an area I want to do some work in. Ran some errands and put some fuel in the Ridgeline.

My youngest decided she was going to make 8PM brownies. I told her she shouldn’t do that. Eating that stuff before bed is not good for you.
