Yesterday my mother sent me a coool visual representation of where a drop of rainwater travels and where it ends up and I had to check it out.

From my place, interestingly, it goes north to Concord before heading back south, then hits Lowell, MA before truly heading east and again north to get to the Merrimack River estuary into the sea (100.7 miles) . When I clicked on my place, it made the starting point the North Branch River just above where it flows into the Contoocook in Hillsboro. But, the Contoocook is 4 blocks (and downhill) from me, so the trip of the raindrop is really about 3 miles shorter.

I've looked at that before and it is sort of neat. In lower MI it can be interesting to see the water go west and dump into Lake Michigan. Then it has to head north around the Straits before heading south, then east and then north and NE before getting to the ocean. Quite a trip.

Got started on my cast iron radiator / garage heat project this morning. I got all the old supply and return fittings removed (they were in there REAL good). I also got the short radiator separated in 2 spots where the section joints looked very questionable. Going on a parts run this evening....may be able to get them back together and ready for a pressure test sometime this week. If they test good I'll take them down to a local guy and have them media blasted and primed.

I have a Samsung washer with a clean out just like that. I don't use anything when I clean it our. Usually 4-5 times a year. Has always been full of dog and cat hair. The dog I have now does not shed so that issue might let up some. Still have the cats. I have had the machines about 4 years now without issues. I run the self clean cycle (4 hrs). Seems to do a good job and gets rid of odors. Sometimes I run vinegar or baking soda through it. I have a septic system so I need to very very careful about what I use. (no bleach)

Artic blast settling in. Here for a couple days then back to more normal temps. Like it better when the weather comes in off the ocean. More messy but not nearly as cold. Further inland their temps really dig down. No thank you. Kennebec river not frozen over enough for winter activities. Seldom is except in certain shallow area where they set up smelt shanties. Often like little town with choking smoke so thick it is hard to breath . Thank goodness I am high up on a hill from that. The smoke won't raise up this high. They use primitive wood stoves in the fish houses. I think they must burn green wood from the smell of it. stinks like creosote.
