Too bad it is so far away and I can no longer split by hand.

I wouldn't be opposed to helping them out but it's 4hrs away and I'd be one to load up some firewood to add.

Just got home from Doctor's. He said things are progressing fine. They put an oil bubble in my eye to hold the repair in place and that's whats causing the bad vision. It will be another 8wks or so before it gets removed then my vision should return to normal.

I slept amazing last night. First good night's sleep in several weeks, if not a month. Then my phone alarm went off extra, extra early from last week's duck hunt and cut that short. Oh well.

Basketball game tonight. If it warms up enough tomorrow I'll try to get the fruit trees pruned.

Thanks. I accomplished a lot of dirt work with it the last two days. Until about 3:15 today when I blew a hydraulic line. At least I hope that’s what it was. Managed to get it back home before I started to lose steering. Must of been peeing fluid worse than I thought! Ugh. It’s cold. And my retired neighbor, who would usually bring it into his big building and get a fire going and fix it, says his hands can’t take the cold anymore. He has some arthritis and other stuff from all the years of work. Ugh. Now I have to figure this out.

I too have an extremely short commute to work now, after many years of 35 mile commutes each way. It's a great perk, that too many don't consider. Just because you're used to wasting an hour or more each day in your vehicle, shouldn't make it acceptable.

Well. I decided to see if I could figure out where the leak was coming from.

I think I found the culprit. And got it off!

Hard to believe that little rupture pizzed out that much hydraulic fluid though. I hope I have the right problem.

And I think I know why I don't want to be a backyard mechanic!

Laying on a tarp on the snow up under a 16-17,000 lb backhoe loader at 6 degrees is NOT my idea of a Good Friday night. WTF?

Some kind of drink with liquor going in my body soon!

    Nice job!
You couldn't borrow a little time in your neighbor's barn to work on it? Does not sound like a good time!

He has it pretty filled up to get things out of the weather. So I didn’t ask. By the time he went there, got the fire going and heated the big metal building up in these temperatures it would have been 1PM in the afternoon! Then he would of had to move some stuff out.

No insulation! Burns whole pallets in a big burner he and his father built years ago. So he doesn’t even go to the shop much when it gets below 20 anymore. Great guy though. He will be back in his shop when it gets near 30 again.

    Anywho… 0741FDEF-25AE-4204-914C-198798E6B0B6.jpeg I ran out of beer!

yep was thinking of my lab Ebbie today. Not quite ready to bury her ashes. If I take her to the tree farm, I may be sad when I look where she is. Here thinking she is buried outside instead of being inside is tough too

I know that feeling. I have 3 in our living room we said we would bury together as they were all here together. The last one we had put down July 2020. They are still in the house. We even have a favorite spot they all would lay to put them but have not yet. Maybe someday.

Remember, those are ashes, not her. Most of her physical being went when she was cremated. My departed relatives are mostly all created. Somehow I have comfort knowing even their physical body has departed and there will be nor further insults happening to them. The ashes, well they are like the handwriting I still have, or the photos and movies. It is a memory. I haven't buried her ashes yet. I will with time. I'll reach a time when I am ready to let go. I know that Molly still is with me in my spirit. I can't tell you how often I feel like she jumped up on my bed with me.
You are fortunate to have the skills and willingness to diagnose and fix the problem. My boys are the same way. I could do my share of fixen in earlier years, but no more now.
