    Good devotion I found...

I had noticed our backyard lawn was looking very dry in several areas. The following day I went out to water it with our hose.
We live in Central California and the weather is often over 100 degrees each day and I just figured the heat was taking a toll on the lawn.
A couple days later my wife went into the garage and noticed that the sprinklers weren’t set to run-there was a power outage a couple weeks prior and even though we remembered to reset the things we easily see such as the clocks we did not think to check the sprinkler system.
I had waited until I saw the symptoms of there being no water as I began to just hit the visibly dry spots on the surface not realizing that the entire lawn was beyond thirsty and dying underneath.
Now that the sprinklers are running again the lawn is beginning to look better as a whole; however I finished mowing the lawn and once it was cut back I could see how much it still needs to come back from not receiving its life giving water.
Of course I wonder are there areas of my life where I’m only taking care of it as I see the symptoms surface?
Am I being sure that there aren’t any power outages that are keeping me from receiving from my source of life?
Jesus referred to Himself as the vine and we are the branches(John 15:5) we have to stay connected to Him and receive His life in order to bear fruit.
In John 7 Jesus states “If you are thirsty, come to me and drink!...you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you…”
May you and I make sure that we are connected, make sure we are abiding, and that we are drinking regularly of our Way, Truth, and Life.
May we not wake up one day and start treating the superficial symptoms of drought but be diligent that we are connected and well watered.

Yes your favorite beer, with maple syrup in it, is not in production yet.

Shorter walk-run this morning. 5.4 miles. I cooked the two of us scrambled eggs and Thomas’s English muffins for breakfast while my son was showering and getting ready for work. He is going in for an eight hour shift. His twin sister is going to work at same place an hour later. We have taken them to three college campuses for tours already. Wife took them to two while I was working. We both just took them to RIT Friday. Good trip. Hit The Cheesecake Factory on the way home. Mmmmmm. Fattening.

Anywho, I’m getting my second dose of caffeine in while relaxing with my wife in the living room. She is on her second cup of coffee after a sleep-in this morning. Then it’s time to get out there and split and stacked the rest of that firewood up today. Going to be hot again. That will teach me. AGAIN.:picard:To wait too long to get the firewood done earlier. Soooo many other things we were doing earlier this year.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. Is not sweet but it gives a good flavor.

Sorry about your cat, mat60. They are such great company. Maybe adopt a senior cat when you are ready?

Thank you. I have always had a cat so I admit I miss the darn thing. I think your right that it would be helpful for the company one day. Thanks again.

That sounds good. Maple makes anything better.

I had a really nice home brewed bohemian pilsner on Friday night. Great flavor, and pilsners are extremely tough to make because you can't hide your mistakes like you can in an IPA. This guy's literally a rocket scientist that has been home brewing for a good number of years. He moved from NH to Wisconsin a couple years ago and I've had a couple of his brews over those couple of years. Every beer I've had of his has been really good.

    These are wise words!!

my great grandmother cookbook during WWII contained notations for sugar to syrup. Because of sugar rationing with stamps..
only exception was cake frosting particularly white.
