It usually is a good fair. I haven't been to a fair for many years though. I am considering going tomorrow to the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor show. Highlighted this year are Olivers and Hart Parr tractors.

My dad would love going to that...but he doesn't get that far from home these days...hour or 2 drive is about the limit.

Same here. It's weird. We haven't ever been only a 1 dog family here until Badger passed. It was always 2 or 3. Maybe after our trip out west we'll add another?

Today consisted of a 10.1 mile walk-run alone this morning. The last loop was tough. Had to walk a lot. But felt good to lengthen the route. Will be doing that once a week to prepare for our future race. After getting cleaned up and having a light breakfast I split and stacked firewood off and on for about four hours. Usually just 30 minutes at a time because of the heat. And being exhausted from the morning workout. I then asked my wife to go out to dinner with me. Not to often all the kids are gone. So we got cleaned up and went to the Grand View Restaurant on the St. Lawrence River. Good food. I had a couple cold Yeaungling Drafts before dinner came. Mmmm

So we had 2 baskets of tomatoes sitting around so we made tomato soup today. Garlic, tomatoes and basil, all from the garden. It took most of the afternoon to simmer down but it was really delicious.

Last year, I had Genovese, and kelloggs breakfast tomatoes. Those cross polinated and this year, I grew some hybrids from that seed. The kelloggs dominant tomatoes are early growing, pretty sweet and as big as a beach ball. Very good.

We also had some hybrid Cherokee purples that are mixed with green doctors or green zebra tomatoes. My wife liked those the best.

I saved the seeds of some of the better tomatoes so next year, we will have even stranger hybrids. There are a few bizarre varieties like black nebula and Japanese black that I planted directly so who knows what will come up.

Must be nice to still be able to run. My knees begin to protest with the short walk I take near dawn. Usually a bit over one mile.

Then, a three mile bike ride later on.

Bottle of bourbon in garage.. it’s cleaner, the garage I mean. My aunt came up from Chattanooga so I had to drive to within a mile of long trail brewery.

No pictures of today's work. Pulled 6 shrubs/ trees using the tractors front end loader.

Got the wood furnace ready for first use. Seals are all good, bricks replaced, chimney swept, all clean outs vaccumed, and new furnace air filters ordered.

Helped the youngest move his new chickens from the brooder pin to the big coop. 37? Total chickens now. Mowed the grass in the chicken yard to make finding new birds easier the first couple of night until everyone figures out how and when to roost.

I enjoy it. Sometimes. My left foot is still bothering me from the ankle roll that must be four months ago now. Not bad, but it gets sore. Hopefully it will be all healed over the next month or so. We are going this morning because we want Monday off from running to do other stuff.
