Got some much needed trail maintenance almost done....lot of limb trimming and bushhogging in prep for deer season. I say almost done because the PTO shaft on the mower spun right in half. It was pretty hurt before I even started but managed to get a ton of thick brush and trees taken out. The shaft was original to the mower, and I remember the mower being OLD when my dad bought it 30 years ago. Trying to decide if I want to try to fix it or just buy a whole new unit.

Nice weather here today. Overcast, cool north breeze, and upper 70's.

I've been out that way a few times. Taughannock(sp) falls, buttermilk falls, etc. Geography is different from the granite of NH, ME and MA. Was a nice visit.

The roof support kit arrived for the DVL. Got that installed while we had a nice stretch of weather. The pipe is close to 6 feet above the roof line and on the north side of the house.

Cleaned up a tipped over stack yesterday. Sorted it for burning and wood bundle for our son to sell. The cherry cut this spring will go here.

Brush cut the poke weed and bittersweet next to the piles. Getting ready for fall.

Look up Lac Megantic Quebec train derailment. You have it easy there. That town was a few years ago a fun place to go duck hunting before season opened here. Completely gone in a matter of hours. Oil pipelines are so dangerous but idiots driving trains are safe.

Jon did you get to use your stove last winter? I forget when you got it finished up and running.

I am very sad this evening. I took Miss Molly to a vet specialist. He confirmed the cancer diagnosis and said Molly was in Pain. Nothing good could be done for her other than to end her discomfort with Euthanasia. This was after a 5 hr wait to be seen.
They were very good to her and to me. I'm very torn up over this. Filled with guilt. Feeling lost without her. She seldom left my side.

Got some new neighbors tonight...a pair of Holstein Oxen. They are some big boys and like getting head scratches more than most dogs.

Yes, they are Oxen...trained to work....

Sorry for your loss savemoney It is never easy losing a pet you have had for a long time. Many tears shed here when pets had to be put down.

I don’t like this Larry. I’m sorry to read this, our dogs hold a huge portion of our hearts. It never gets easier as we hope it might one day. Just yesterday we saw a couple with a matching pair to our last labs and it hurt. May you find some sort of comfort in knowing Molly will no longer be hurting, and know that her goal in life was to heal your pain in anyway she could. We have a garden stone given to us many years ago when we lost one that reads “labs leave paw prints on our hearts” and this is very true.
