Eh, you guys like to pick at the younger generation about our common sense but, we didn't have all the facts, and we had to figure a lot of things out on our own.
Yes, we would expect a cup of coffee to be hot. We would not expect a cup of coffee to cause 3rd degree burns(ps, this lawsuit was not from the younger generation). We were told to get college degrees because it was the "best thing for us"- that strapped a lot of the younger generation with huge amounts of debt, just before a 10 year recession, in the middle of a war with the dollar value rapidly deflating. We were taught common core but never got a chance to learn useful skills in k-12. We didn't have extra money sitting around and didn't start families because of it. The "food" at the grocery store, isn't even real food!

Most of the younger generation wouldn't take the time to even type a response to your comment, they would say nothing, :cringe: or "ok boomer".

Well, we are finally getting good rain. I think this is a first in like 3 weeks. We're a good 10" below normal for rain amounts since the start of the year. It's supposed to rain for a good couple of hours, then again over night and into tomorrow and early am Sunday.

EODMSgt I believe you are correct. Both pictues match. I have seen some coon scat around here and it never looked like that. Maybe the coons hadn't been eating those small wild cherries with big pits. Thanks to all who weighed in on this.:handshake::thumbs:

I am more than a little agitated right now. Some knucklehead cost me way too many hours of my life because he was too lazy to pull out a tach and check the speed on something, which was the first thing I suggested he do.

LoL... Last Friday when my air compressor at work took a dump. I was half way through the disassembly when the service tech came in. While finishing up he told me of a similar circumstance as that... He too said he was a bit agitated... Must more a few knuckleheads out there.... he also used the word lazy too...

We have been getting drenched here this morning. Rain started after 6:30 and we have gotten over 2 inches so far. No hail but it has been windy at times. Water is running in the ditches. We may get a repeat of this rain this afternoon.

Better get that ride in sooner vs later. More rain this afternoon. Which is great. Our mostly brown lawn is greenish after the lightning and rain.

Rain started around 6:30 this morning and the most of it was over within 3 hours. I dumped out 2.3 inches with more rain coming this afternoon. No shortage of rain here. Glad you are finally getting some good rain Horkn

That will do it. Definitely. :headbang:

So one of my boating friends finally bought an inboard ski boat like mine. A newer than mine ski nautique, but essentially the same 351w V8 engine. He sold his I/O 4 cylinder StarCraft and got a 900 hr 92 ski nautique that was what appeared to be great condition mechanically and aside from a few hull chips in nice shape as it's interior was replaced probably about 10 years ago. Well, last weekend on the lake, he went for a cruise around the lake and I got called on my phone to go rescue him. He said the boat just shut off after cruising at 30 mph or so. I went over to his house after work this week after telling him some parts that more than likely were needed. Some of like the exhaust hose which was melted was obvious, as those are really designed to fail and tell you to shut down the engine. This preserves the engine. Well I swapped the hose, the raw water pump impeller ( hoped this was the cause as this usually is). And a gasket on the exhaust. Noted water in the cylinders, both banks, got that out, noted water in the oil, drained that. Did what I could in one evening. It turned over hard.... Not good. I thought he might need a rebuild.

He took it to a shop, and they confirmed that the engine is needing rebuilding/ replacement.

So talking with another person on the boat on that ride, as I stayed with my boat in the bay while they went out, I found out that my buddy didn't tell me the truth. It didn't just stop running. He ran it even after signs of overheating ( burning rubber smell from the exhaust hose) then it started running rough, presumably from the exhaust hose collapse while it melted, and that allows the water that cools the exhaust to them get into the heads, the cylinders, and crankcase. After it ran rough, he ran it for a good 3-5 minutes, and started running even worse, where it shut off. Of course, I was told of the reality of what happened after I assessed what probably was wrong, and I was certain I could get it fixed for minimal time and $. Parts with overnight shipping was around $100. I put in around 3-4 hours into it. Not bad. Had I known the reality....

My other friend that was in the boat and told me what really happened, was telling the owner to shut it off asap, and the owner never listened. Even after it shut off, the owner kept cranking the engine over, at least 20 tries. Water does not compress.

The boat shop scoped the engine and said the cylinders are all scored and other bad signs.

So now he's essentially boatless doesn't have the $ to fix it now, had owned the boat less than 2 hours of run time over 2 weeks, and he's thinking of selling the boat he just paid 10k for and taking a bath on it.

The repair shop said that they can't even get a replacement long block, which I quickly and easily found 3 placed that sell reverse rotation marine 351w long locks for 2400-2900. This guy is not any bit mechanically inclined. I don't have the time to help him with it, which would be me doing the R And R job all by myself with him buying the parts and helping me with any grunt work. So that's not really what I want or can get into right now. If it was my boat, yes. Here's got no shop or garage space either, just in his front yard.

I'm mad he didn't tell me what really happened with the boat. I value his friendship, but I feel he betrayed my friendship by lying to me what really happened.

I told him to check around as any one with a shop could do the long block swap in a day. Then he'd have a new drivetrain on that boat because the transmission was a brand new one 2 years ago. Starter, alternator, all new last winter. The boat was in great mechanical shape, and what went was an easy fix had he shut it off when he first was given the signs.

This is a guy that outside of working on a shop ( machinist) his only past time in the summer is boating. So it will be tough for him being boatless for the first time in his adult life.

While he can run a machine, he's got zero mechanical skills, and apparently expects everyone else to do the work for him. That's per his wife about expecting others to do the work, and I see that as I've repaired stuff on his boat a few times that he sold to buy this ski boat.

    Uggg

Already installed. Has it's own S/A and R/A plenums for the trunklines; seperate and isolated from the LP furnace. (Yeah, high efficiency)
