My area has been in the same boat. Yesterday was the first time I've mowed since early last summer where I couldn't' mow the drainage area. It hadn't rained since Friday, which means the ground is finally saturated. It's raining pretty good now and is supposed to continue with showers and rain for the rest of the week.

After 5.5" of rain over a week, yesterday I saw this funky fungus on a landscape timber next to the house.

    Should Christians diet?
    by Pastor Mike Novotny

If the Bible says our bodies are temporary and our souls are eternal, should we think much about calories and sodium and sugar? Or should we focus our efforts on faith, hope, and love? Good questions. To be honest, the Bible doesn’t have many answers. Even that passage about honoring God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:20) is in the context of prostitution, not portion size!

However, there is one passage that grabs my attention: “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” (Proverbs 23:20,21). Why not gorge yourself at the buffet or have one glass of wine too many? Because you end up drowsy. God didn’t create your body to be full of energy while processing that amount of meat.

That’s why food matters so much to God. He wants us to have the energy needed to do good works in his name. Two hours after lunch, he has an opportunity lined up for us to serve our boss or listen to our kids or lend a hand to a neighbor in need. Those acts of love, like most good works, will require energy and focus. This is why God wants you to be wise when packing your lunch.

I bring a small black notebook to the gym to keep track of my workouts. Inside the front cover, I wrote these words: Do this work, so you can do his work! So, fellow Christian, take care of the only body God has given you. Your ability to love others just might depend on it.

Granite installers just left. One of the sinks got damaged in shipment so they will have to come back later in the week. Color is a little darker than we thought it would be, but still looks nice.

You, my friend, have a very special skill. What a blessing you have to have the skill to use your hands and mind to take tools and do such fantastic work. I haven't seen a thing yet you have shown that wasn't top shelf.

Took Holly for a run just a bit ago.
Yesterday afternoon it poured. Water is still coming off the hill in places. Sprinkled a little when I went to get labs taken this morning. It is just starting to rain. Hearing a lot of thunder. Here we go again. 81 out.

Me too. We do need a permit, but that is about all that I am aware of. I find where there are regulations, there are also high taxes.

My property taxes make most people sick. I pay less a year than a lot of people do a month.

72,500 bucks (a little over 58K usd) buys this cabin with handmade wooden beds, ocean view from the master bedroom,

"There are 2 wells (summer & winter), full plumbing, new light fixtures, new doorknobs, brand new pressure treated plywood skirt, new shingles, brand new Yamaha 2600 generator, 3 solar panels and freshly painted exterior, including sheds! Comes w/ all furniture, linens, towels, dishes, lawnmower, BBQ & shed full of wood. Cabin is on 1 acre of privately owned oceanfront land (not leased) w/100 feet of beach frontage."

    I like it.

Recently the town sent out letters saying they wanted to come in and inspect homes for any updated finishes. To adjust assessed values. Um, nope! I called and told them my place is a dump and I’d be embarrassed to let anybody in…

I would have said that would be too disruptive to my 86 cats living inside.

Lol, they never came in and my taxes stayed the same. I can’t say the same for the townsfolk that showed off their properties.

I would like to put so a building that would accommodate a 16’ door and a vehicle lift.

But it would require pulling permits and I’m quite sure the previous owners never pulled permits for the farmers porch out front and the sun room they built on what used to be the backyard deck.

I’ll keep planting more trees to hide the view from the road.
