I moved a little wood yesterday but cut it short. I can only do a little at a time right now. But I was entertained nicely by the local deer herd. It is amazing how well they tolerate the tractor; much better than the atv or even the golf cart.

On my first trip to get some wood I was entertained by a pair of fawns. They didn't know what to make of me. Then when I got close to where I am stacking the wood I stopped because there were several deer and they just stood there staring at me. I noticed one doe kept looking in one direction so I suspected a fawn or fawns and sure enough, after a while one came out to its mama. The deer then moved into the clover. I expected it to just go through it and into the woods buy she had other ideas. She simply stopped and started feeding on the clover. I the just moved very slowly hoping it would leave but she showed no sign of that until I got closer then she did walk off but not very far. Saw 4 more deer before I got to where I am stacking. One was laying down about 15 yards from the lane.

I figured after I passed that deer she would get up and move. After all, 3 others did walk off a ways but not her. Then another doe and fawn got up when I got the tractor up to the wood pile but they did not leave until I was stacking the wood. On the way out, that one deer was still laying.

On the next load, as I was passing the camping area we use for our GTGs there was a doe feeding and although she was in the open and only 15-20 yards away (with fawns right behind her) she never once looked up; just kept feeding. And yes, that deer that was bedded was still there on the way in and on the way out.

I am blessed with all the wildlife on our place. They are accustomed to me giving them free range here and I go out of my way to not make them afraid.

55 degrees this morning and humidity dropped quite a bit. I opened a bunch of windows to let the nice air in. Maybe things will dry out back today.

A pack of coyotes woke me up at 4:45 this morning. Pretty effective alarm clock with the windows cracked open.

I have one area that we were thinking of turning into a garden next year, but it needs a lot of work on brush clearing and dropping 5 aspen trees. Deer fence and wire mesh into the ground for woodchucks and rabbits will be needed. I doesn't need to be huge, but I need to weigh out the options. There are a few spruce tree tops covered in there.

My brother gave me a radial arm saw back when we moved, and lost the pack of screws and bolts in the shuffle. I found the schematics and I have my list to get.

Here is a pile of pallet wood to cut and stack. I should get some room back. I'd love to park the splitter in that spot.

It's rained some nearly every day for the past 3 weeks or so.

Mostly short thunderstorms that dump and move on.

    Thx for the update.

I haven't turned on the stream yet. Knew it would be a while.

    Here too, mostly dry.

We're still in a drought. A moderate one here at my place, but we send to get just enough rain at just the right time to keep the lawn from browning out.

Not here. There's a couple days of slight rain chances, but most of the rain is set to go south or well north of us. Like it's done all this spring and summer so far.

befor this past week, we were very dry here. Any digging in the garden, all the soil dry. I am sure this last week has done a lot to improve that situation. Farmers need the rain

My area has been the worst for the drought in the state. Hopefully this week has helped but so much came so fast it just ran off.

It's been hot and humid here.
    85°F+, with humidity to match.

One of the reasons we've been so wet, a bit of a front from the northwest, goes over the lake bringing in cool air, producing storms.

Made a quick supper this afternoon. Just some Franks, corn on the cob and green beans. Corn wasnt to bad for 23 cents a pc from Walmart. Like the steamer allot with some foods and it saves time. Meats go in the air fryer for the most part but I do like steamed franks. Hope you all been enjoying the weekend. 100_0958.JPG

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:
1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself.
2 I have realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
3 I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.
4 I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am.
5 I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past.
6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.
7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You.”
8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.
9 I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.
10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.
11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.
12 I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone.
13 I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.
14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!
I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age?

The humidity crept up quick today. I spent a good part of the day in the barn getting the radial arm saw back together and dialed in. I'll run a cord out and power it up this week. I didnt have any thread lock available, but the organic rust lock will work before long.

Spent two hours on the attic bedroom air sealing. Almost ready for an inspection. Slowly progressing. It was too wet for mowing today, it seems like new mushrooms show up everyday.

Glad I don't have to deal with any of that here.
