Three toed sloth - they have wicked long claws

The alligator that I see is an open mouth on the right and then two front legs and part of the body behind the legs.

This has been such an unusual year with the weather so far. For example, most had a very light winter and that was followed by a dry spring with many in a drought. One of the most unusual to me was the total lack of mosquitoes here and we normally have lots of them.

They say all things must come to an end and so it is. We are now officially out of the drought and are practically begging for the rain to stop. And although our big mosquito season normally begins around May 20, this year it began July 6. I'm here to tell you the have hatched by the trillions and even more! Almost beyond number. :hair: :headbang: :headbang::picard:

Yesterday was so cool I just had to try moving some wood and stacking it. I took along 2 Thermacell units and could not have done much without them. But the problem was that I was not in one spot very long and as soon as I moved I'd move into another area that had to be cleared of skeeters. The units are super great but it still takes a few minutes to clear out the blood suckers and in the meantime the slapping and swatting continues. In addition one needs to be bundled up and with the high humidity it becomes uncomfortable. After 2 loads I gave up and put things away. If need be, the rest can wait until fall.

On the bright side, I have been entertained by deer a lot lately. One example is yesterday when I took the first load of wood in back I saw 2 deer who were not all that nervous. They watched me go to the wood pile and then I could not see very far as the brush and trees are thick and lots of autumn olive. On the way out there were 3 deer standing on the open sand about 25 yards from me and just stood there watching.

I did not notice any more on the next trip in but on the way out I looked toward where the 3 had been and sure enough, they had laid down on the edge of some blackberry bushes. They laid there chewing their cuds and watched me. Have I ever mentioned how much I love seeing this sort of thing?!

Nah. I just don't spend a lot of time on other stuff. I watch about 1 hour of TV a week, if that. 5 minutes after I get out of bed I'm working on something for an hour or 2 before work.

Supposed to get a couple inches of rain tomorrow and need taters out if the garden for dinner tomorrow night...so I decided to dig some tonight. Dug 2 plants and they were loaded.

Ended up digging all of them since the digging was perfect conditions. Got about 150 lbs.

    This is from 2 plants.

Ours are just blossoming here. We don’t start for another month picking and they are small. October harvest here.
