That's a pretty broad question... What kind of books are you into? I think The Gulag Archipelago is required reading, but that's just personal preference

I am just out of books right now. I listen to them on my library app and I don't know what to listen to next. Gulag Archipelago could be an intense read, I will see if I can get it.

Lol. 3 volumes, 26, 28, and 22 hours. For some reason I thought it was a novella like the communist manifesto. I put a hold on it but there is still a wait 4 weeks out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Haha yeah it's pretty grueling... in both content and just absorbing it all. After you're done you may need something light from John Grisham to get you centered again

The Great Controversy by Ellen G. White has quite a bit in it to make you think about our history.

I got lots of good books, but it depends on what genre you prefer. I have really gotten into Indy authors who have created the Kurtherian Universe (Michael Anderle started it and then broadened it out). There are 208 books (so far and I've read . I have 26 to go - and I just found it last summer. Different arcs range thru Werewolves/vampires (but not the Buffy type), End of the World as we know it, space fairing (not really space opera though), and rebuild earth with magic. Some of the arcs stand alone very well - I actually started out at almost the very end (around books 185 - Storms of Magic arc), found the Hidden Magic arc (even later), then got intrigued and started at the beginning. I wasn't sure I would like the werewolf/vampire and then space going arcs, but those were great too. I started off in this universe because I could get Kindle books (and sometimes a group of 4 books) for 99 cents.

Then I also have dark war series.

These types aren't everyone's cup of tea - but if any seem to be of interest, let me know and I'll give you some titles.

Set a temporary column with a 4x4 in the basement this morning...the permanent steel column was special order and should be here next week.

After that, a minor miracle occurred. I was able to hole saw through all 5 layers of the center beam without hitting a single nail. I thought for sure I'd hit at least 1 and was mentally prepared to hit 2. Bad news is all my good luck for the rest of the week has been fully spent.

The new cordless drill is a beast...borderline dangerous (compliment, not complaint) amount of torque. 4 1/8" hole saw was a joke for it. Had to set the e-clutch down two notches to keep it from trashing my wrists.

Next job is to drill a hole through the basement wall and tie into the pipe there....not enough clearance between fittings to do it inside.

I have read a lot of the classics but I get kind of lost in the world of new books. They are all fighting for your attention.

Thanks for your recommendations, I will give it a shot! Any specific titles to start with or is the series reliably good?

I am assuming this is by Jack London. I haven't heard of this title but I am looking forward to listening. :)

Glad you like your new drill, when we did our previous home the plumber wanted to run our entire home (old part and the addition) as 1 zone. And, wanted to run lines in the new walk-out basement with new part of house under the floor joists. Umm, no. I had to drill every single joist atleast twice as he refused to, and did my best on 2 zones. He was friend. Was  (he pulled other shenanigans too like padding his orders on our dime etc.).

I just emailed kiddo's teacher asking for some titles for this summer, I get lost in all books, not just "new ones". Speaking of London, I have a compilation of all his stories my father gave me as a kid, I'll get that out for this summer too!

Thanks WW :) She is entering 5th grade this fall. She does okay reading (thus the summer reading to reinforce and get better at it) but by no means an advanced reader for her grade. She is doing SO WELL under her new teacher this year (she'll have the same teacher next year as well for 5th grade), she struggled under her 2nd/3rd grade teacher . I could not be happier, her first teacher/parent meeting the teacher was quite happy with her performance too and told me "it's not how one finds the information/answer, it's being able to find the information period regardless of the source. So, I get caught off guard when her assignment is to dictate a story on her chromebook instead of typing/writing it out by hand on paper, or listening to an audio book instead of opening a paperback. That said in real life in my career, I used whatever source I could to find information I needed for the task at hand. Times are a changin' ! Personally I'd prefer printed books this summer.

When I was in high school we took a trip to Yellowstone. There was a Griz cub on the side of the road and little asian woman 20 feet away taking pictures. Everyone was screaming at her to get back in her car but apparently she didn't speak enough english to understand. We drove off...didn't want to see someone die with a van full of kids. Not sure what happened, but nothing would surprise me.

Yep, I saw too much of that including people walking on geyser/mineral areas clearly marked with signage everywhere and fenced off. The signs when I was there in 2017 were printed in every language imaginable, no excuse.

    We wen
t through a few bad teachers or maybe not bad but could not teach some things. Still finding some of that with some college professors. This is in higher classes too not the everyday stuff. That I find sickening.

I've been fortunate to visit many national parks but saw more idiots at Yellowstone than all the other parks put together. I was amazed how dumb people were.
