With these warm temperatures today we got the circles around the trees, showing that sunshine yesterday did its job and the trees soaked it up. A sign of spring.

I just bought 150 lb yesterday. With luck it might last close to 2 weeks.

Duramax, it was not a tranny leak, turns out they use red antifreeze, it was the water pump. Wooops, WWW was so pleased that some pellet stove pellets completely soaked up the "tranny" fluid off the garage floor   Oh well. Guess the thermostat is not working quite right either and a couple other things, so they need it into next week. I was going to get the FJ looked at to sell, but that might have to wait. Add atleast a thousand to the repair bill :picard:

Ever have one of those days when you want a redo? Just one hour ago I was told my 64 year old cousin was found dead in his St. Mary MT home. And the hospice people just 10 minutes ago called my wife to be at her mothers bedside and “please hurry”.

I think I will make a stiff drink

Those hospice folks are great. They truly are a passionate bunch. Not much my wife could do so they sent her home. Mother in law is 88 and has a pacemaker. But it is just a matter of time they tell my wife. Her mom is a tough old bird!

I snowblowed last on Sunday night at 11-11:45pm as it was finishing snowing the 3" of wet snow. The blower is pretty quiet, so there's no issues.

Weird, I've never thought of mourning doves as spring birds since we have them all winter long - the pigeons go away, but the mourning doves stay. The bird I think of as harboring spring is red-winged black birds.

It’s warm out but the wind is blowing. Hope my work spot on the side of the road gets some sun today!

A little more than 24 hours of thawing, with the temps getting up to 50* - pictures taken about 5:30 yesterday evening

Thank goodness, the ice should be gone today from this section

Ice in front of gate 24 hour thaw 2-24.jpg

A lot of thawing going on. How can I tell? All that black stuff is seed shells I dump out of the platform feeder. Since I only put in a handfull of see per day - that is more than what I dumped yesterday morning
At back door - bird seed showing thaw 2-24.jpg

Hoping the level of snow next to the lower part of the ramp goes down a lot - otherwise it is going to be icy city down later when the freeze hits again.
ramp - thank goodness for thaw 2-24.jpg

Still 41* at 4am and with a howling wind. The wind is the biggest enabler of meltage, so it will be interesting to see how much went overnight.

Yes red-winged blackbirds should be here anytime now. Bluebirds and robins are year-round now.
