Update ~ so I left my house at 2 this afternoon, and 10 minutes later I get a call from an unknown number. It's a driver from some tree service asking if he can dump the load of wood at the far end of my driveway rather than in the yard. Ummmm sure. I ask what kind it is. White Pine. Not what I was hoping for, but I'll happily take it :) He's thanking me profusely saying that the transfer station is charging over $100 a yard to dump wood there. Huhhhh?!?! Then he tells me he'll have another load for me tomorrow, maple this time. Whether it's sugar, red, or silver I'll take it! This is awesome, less than 24 hours on the Chipdrop train and already making the ways and means of getting more so much easier on me :smoke:Pictures to come tomorrow.

Alot of stuff seems hard to come by, all different stuff. 2x4x8 was 7.49 here (5.90 USD) at the place I buy most of my materials and more expensive at most other places. I usually go to the place 2 min from me for 1x3 and 1x4 because it's stored inside and usually a very nice product for what it is, but unfortunately it's just too small a business to keep availability of product and services ideal. So most times I go to a place 45 mins away, one of 3 locations, still a local family business but big enough that they often have the best prices, good availability and a large delivery fleet but still the customer service of a local lumber yard. I'm not a fan of big box stores but I'll go when I have to.

Lumber prices in general seem to have gone down a bit again, and the shortage is going away, for lumber anyway. But prices are still closer to the crazy high than to normal.

From what I could tell in the lumber yard yesterday, there was no shortage of anything, but everything is still priced like it is on intergalactic backorder.

So nobody ever called you/dropped anything off? Bummer. Tree service companies up there must not be utilizing Chipdrop. Either that or there's a lot more people in NH that burn firewood so it's easier to find people to drop a load of logs on.

It does seem like stuff is getting back in stock now, but at least here there was a shortage for a while. I hope the prices continue to go down.

That's awesome! The white pine will be ready for next fall off you process it by spring. It's good for buying coals down. I don't have any issues taking any pine. Now the maple, that's a great score regardless of what kind of maple.

    Take pictures and post up:ithappened:

In the States there's a big tarriff on lumber from Canada. That only adds to the pricing.

I still can't believe how fast this worked out for me. I'm already planning my weekend around processing this mountain of freebies :) I still have about 3/4 cord of spruce and about a face cord of white pine so this will be compliment my inventory nicely. I've never turned down any maple either and thought it was nice of the guy to come back tomorrow. In the end I'm saving him dumping fees and he's saving me scrounging headaches.

Got the bedroom wall framed and started roughing in electrical before I ran out of wire. Hoping to hang drywall on ceiling and half the walls this weekend.

I was in Monroe yesterday at the John Deere dealer and just down the road was a archery/gun shop. Walked in just for the halibut and walked out $100 poorer. They had at least 50 boxes of 22 WMR. They don’t anymore!

I didn’t think $19.99 for 50 rounds of Hornady V Max was too bad. I bought 5 boxes.

Supposed to get 6-8” or 2-3” of snow over next 12 to 48 hours. Headed out to get gas milk bread and a couple new shovels. Hope we make it through it.

I really don’t get the shovel thing. Most of mine I have had for over 5 years. Do these people throw them away at the end of the year? And how don’t you have a couple by February?
