Have you looked into the chip drop app? Tree companies and landscapers can bring wood to your property. Some here have had some luck. You will need room for a delivery to be dropped off. YMMV.

I almost signed up for it a while back, but I really don't like the idea of having a big pile of who-knows-what dropped off without a say in it. I'd love come home one day to some Hickory or Sugar Maple logs, but if I came home to a bunch of Tree of Heaven or Willow I'd be less than thrilled.

Alright, the heck with it! I just rolled the dice with Chipdrop and specifically said NO WILLOW :) We'll see how this goes soon enough. You guys are all a bunch of enablers!

You apparently can specify what kind of wood you won't take. I signed up, but until the snow banks melt, I can't take any.

That's what I'll put when I give them the go ahead. Literally, NO WILLOW!

    Anything but Willow.

That got me to thinking. Can you have 2 addresses for chip drop? I would think it would be easiest to set up a second account, for the other address. I could have them drop off wood at the wood lot, at any time.

It's been three weeks since I was at the cottage. Tomorrow, my intentions are to show up with the plow and re-open the drive.

Looks like the highs will be in the teens; "very cold" is what they said on the web. Ha! It'll be a nice break from the sub zero temps we've been having! :handshake:

Highs in the teens will be balmy compared to what you've had. We had 18° today. It felt like a heat wave. Monday it's supposed to be like 35, and over freezing for even just a little bit most of the week.

I don't see why not since all you need is a second email address. Either that or there's got to be a way to change the drop location to suit you. So you haven't actually taken delivery on anything yet? I wonder if I'll be waiting until spring when tree work picks up again, unless of course we get slammed with an ice storm or Nor'easter that takes down a bunch of trees.

After further research on this Chipdrop site, it says that there have been 61 drop offs within a 50 mile radius of me within the past 30 days. So depending on how many other hoarders that are using it in my area, I could be seeing a drop sooner than I originally thought. Pretty cool!

My parents, who live about 7 miles outside Wichita, KS saw -16* yesterday morning. That is wicked cold for them, and colder than any temp I've seen at my house this season.

-8 here now. With rare exceptions, that's about as cold as it gets here. I can only remember a few times that we had negative 10 or colder.

Got the most of the the demo work done on bedroom 1 yesterday evening. Still need to remove the baseboard heater and tear out the insulation, but going to have to warm up a little before I'm willing to do that. Have a wall to frame up for now, but that's not going to take long.

No, I just created an account. Then thought about the second location, where I could actually take a delivery of wood from chip drop. No, it's not my jackwagon neighbor's driveway, right in the middle, but I thought about it;) our address is almost the same. A 5 or a 6 at the end of the street address makes a big difference:rofl:

I could easily do a second drop location with my other email to keep them separate.
Here, until the snow melts a bit, I doubt there's any tree work going on anyways.

Ended up plowing the cottage today, it sure needed it. Most of the snow had turned to that sort of "sugar snow" which is a good thing as I had concerns of everything being frozen stiff. Even where the highway snowplow wash was, it was still soft and not frozen.

I just had to go to home depot for some 1x3 and 1x4, due to the covid outbreak my usual place I get 1x_ lumber has drastically reduced hours and I can't get there. Home Depot has much higher prices for a poorer quality product. I managed to pick out enough good ones to finish my project but I'll be careful about starting any other projects till things improve again.

I went to Menard's yesterday (midwest USA hardware store chain) for some electrical supplies. The shelves were bare when it came to residential electrical boxes. There were exactly 2 single gang nail on boxes and I bought them both.

Bought some 2"x4"x8' for $5.85 or something ridiculous....but they were nicer than usual quality.
