I was on vacation for two weeks over the Holidays. I tried to not watch much TV, but as little as possible of the news (mainly politics). The only thing that seemed to happen was I enjoyed life more. I need to do that more now. Here goes....

I have about zero tolerance of door to door salespeople. Even when I might have nothing else to do, I don't want to put up with them. When I want something, I want to initiate it. When they get invited to come to my house, it mostly is for dooryard visits. I seldom let anyone into the house. My house is for my peace of mind.

I understand completely. Every man's home is his sanctuary. I know these guys have a job to do and all that but I can do without the unsolicited "help". Had I been home the first time when this guy showed up, he wouldn't have come back for round two and wasted his and our time.

I wonder if it is a knock-off instead of the real thing?

I don't even know if I have those apps on my phone. Heck, I rarely have the ringer volume on so it usually takes a while for me to answer voicemails or texts, only when I remember to look at it. I will sometimes scroll thru FB on it at night because I can do that standing up or from the couch instead of my office chair that I have already had my butt plunked in for 10-12 hours while WFH.

Chico has settled into his new shed. Had to tarp the roof. Too cold to put down rubber roof.
Waiting on the mill to cut the 1x8 and 1x3 board and batten red oak siding.

I don't think so...if it is, it's VERY convincing...it was just misrepresented by the seller...and I didn't dig deep enough while doing my homework...

With all bed rock, little to no soil, what do they do with their waste water? Sewer treatment plant, or dump it into the ocean.

Did you pack some of your own personal stash of dry wood?

I've seen this a few times. Awesome cabin rental, but wet wood. :wacky:

Couldn't tell you off hand, but I would think if they can manage to dig for pipes they can manage to get a septic tank in? I'm no plumbing expert. Which speaking of, will be one of the next big sections of my house project. I'll need help with that.

Looks like there's at least somewhat more growth on the outskirts? Something about the community itself seems very interesting to me. Now, that's not to say I wouldn't drive through, take a few pictures, and move on again.

That said, there are a few places I've quickly passed through that I'd love to be able to go back to and stay longer. I'd like to manage to stay the night in a few places, instead of being limited to a day trip.

I’ll have to try that one I guess. I’m running low on the last batch and eye of round is on sale for next week.

We had homemade pizza tonight. It's been quite a while since I made some. I miss the wood-fired oven at the last house. Tonight pretty much decided that another one may be built this year. If I can make a wood shed and consolidate a few cords, I can free up space for a brick arch style oven. Basically a half barrel, no cob this time around. I have the ideas in my head. I miss the 800+ degree heat and two minute cooking time.

Fresh marinated mozzerella cheese with garlic. Really good.

I miss all those mouth drooling pictures of the creations that came out of the wood fired oven of yours. Almost could smell the tantalizing aromas.

For oven pizza, those look great. I’ll bet they tasted that way too. If you get that outdoor oven built I’m sure you’ll use it like you did before. Lots of good looking meals came off of it. It’s 4am and you got me thinking I need to get some pizza. Oh, well.
