Someone just just went through the ice on their sled and died in Eagle River Wisconsin. I'm very familiar with the lake it happened on, and there's parts that you should never go on, even if it's been extremely cold.
Another person, a sheriff from Kenosha died a couple of days ago in northern Wisconsin close to the UP. He missed a corner and hit trees.

There will be more probably. Lots of inexperienced sledders and they all have way less areas that are even open with the lack of snow.

I had some crazy dreams this morning around 5. The semi tanker I was hauling with a giant furry worm/catapillar dinosaur thing made some sense when I got up and realized kiddo had a kids dinosaur show on the tv with the volume pretty loud, but the strangers that were apparently my friends in the dream and other funky interesting stuff just mystifies me. You all think I am funny here? Holy cow my mind is, ahem, very creative while dreaming sometimes. (shrugging shoulders, idk.)

I quit chewing a year ago after 30 plus years. Took Chantix to help. The bad side effects were “vivid dreams”. Let me tell ya that wasn’t a lie. I’d come out of bed in a total panic sweat from some of the stuff going through my mind. I still swear to this day I buried my wife in the back lawn after she got a little cranky at me.

I was prescribed a sleep aid in 2005 (I don't remember what it was, was ambien invented by then?), I don't remember a thing but WWW says he had a really hard time believing I was not awake and did not remember being up and around :loco: . Interesting, I've taken Chantix a few times but did not have vivid dreams. Rx drugs are pretty interesting.

When they put my hip back together they had to separate all the muscles in there. I was getting the worst muscle spasms I ever had, couldn’t hardly sleep because of it. My doctor gave me some big dose flexerall. I took it just once, slept 18 hours straight ahead and woke up with the absolute worst hangover ever. I was dungy for 2 days after. Never touched that again.

That’s comforting it’s not a caddy. About a 1970 eldorado would put out some heat though. Lots of interior to burn.

I’m talking the old 500 cid v8 from the day. A friend had one of those late 60s. Check the gas and fill the oil wasn’t a lie. It burned oil by the gallon. Couple hundred miles to the quart. Wasn’t any bugs around though.

Had a 64 (?) jeep wagoneer that was like that but I think it needed oil a lot sooner than 200 miles!!! :handshake:

Coworker had a old Toyota Tercel(?) that literally left a blue smoke trail down the road behind him...he said he had to either clean or replace some of the plugs every tank or two of fuel...he kept a socket/ratchet/extension and spare plugs in the glove box! He drove that car to work for years!  (no idea what his QPM was o_O)
He lived down the road from me and you could always tell when he went by...even if you didn't see him...the muffler was gone and it had a distinct sound...and if you didn't see or hear him, there was always that oil smell for a couple minutes after...not kidding!

Horkn , have to tell you. WWW had a job in Sinclair the other day. He was low on fuel (he really really misses the big tank on the 99 F250). He drove each side of the tiny town where the only refinery in WY is. No gas station in town. He had to go back to the interstate to a Phillips gas station. Interesting.

A little overnight snow just finishing up here. Just enough to need clearing and put a dent in my weekend plans. Holly should like going out checking fresh tracks out.

I'll be back up in the attic today for a few hours. Maybe get the splitter out tomorrow to work the rounds pile down.

Snowing here and the sand truck went by a little while ago. Don't expect much, but already have more than any of the other snowfalls in 2021.

It has been a warm winter, but the ground is still frozen and still have a couple of inches of packed snow/ice covering the ground from the big storm in December - despite several heavy rains. However, it has been just cold enough to inhibit any meltage. Had a couple of dustings/light snows 2 weeks ago, and last weekend when I cleaned the stoves I spread the ashes on the paths (and finished up with sand) since they were still frozen over and very slick .

By yesterday a couple places finally melted thru to the ground from the ashes soaking in some sunshine (that says a lot about how much the sun don't shine here ;)), but just tussocks here and there.
