Ah, that is too bad. Hopefully you will get these repairs covered by insurance.

Winter just brings a whole new set of problems to the table...

The dent on the roof looks better than I anticipated. Glad you were able to get out of it with minimal damage. I think the best tents are the quansit hut style, the seem to shed the snow better, and the pipes seem pretty damm strong too. A friend of mine has had one for at least 15 years now at his tow yard, and other than two rips in the canvas in the back section from a snow load that wasnt cleared, its held up great. The rips actually helped us work in there in the winter. Kept a constant air flow while running the propane heaters so we wouldnt die. I used to work in there in a tee shirt during the dead of winter.

I had one on the property when I bought the house. I took it down and gave it away. The canvas was beat, but the frame was still great.

I think part of the issue is that it is in a high wind area so it was always moving around. Wind gets so high that the cable anchors (shot into the ground 3-4', actually got dragged. The other part of the issue is it looks like the right part of the tent (east side) shed at least some of the snow load when the early morning sun hit it, so it got unbalanced so started leaning to the left, which was the final stressor. I'm sure I'll be upgrading to a more permanent structure next summer.

I hope the insurance company takes care of you. Seems like a tow should be included, if you have collision. Maybe a carport/pellet storage structure design?

We have the option to include a towing clause on our vehicle's policy here in our "governor's kingdom".... :D

I would thing so too on the towing, but don't want to make assumptions since I've not used this insurance before. I have full coverage, but don't want them arguing later that I could have just driven it the 2 miles.

Pretty much, maybe even have a small totally enclosed place so I can get rid of the metal shed that is at least 20 years old (and transferred from my old place to here). That poor thing really shouldn't have lasted as long as it has for being a cheap HD DIY shed.

You could contact your local police and ask them if it would be OK to drive it a short distance so you could get the windshield replaced.

bogieb .. My opinion.. Not saying its a right one but as long as you can see ok and no glass is going to blow in your face driving the 2 miles thats what Id do.

Yes, that's what helped get mine through the winter.

If you have glass coverage, check which companies your ins. accepts. We've had them come to where we work but they may come right to your house.

My buddy is looking at one of these for ATV and other machine storage. What would you recommend?

The price on this looks good, and 10x17 is plenty big 10 ft. x 17 ft. Portable Garage

This would probably be best, but 2 miles isn't bad.

bogieb , when sitting in the car, is that right in your natural line of sight ? If so, maybe scrunch down/ lower the seat etc to drive the 2 miles. I think any Cop would at most give you a fix it ticket, and you could just have them follow you to the shop. And sign off on it right away.

I don't think they'll do that in cold temperatures. I think they'll need it inside.

That is hurricane wind speeds. 80 mph is destructive. Knocks trees over.

Some of the glass repair companies will come to you to repair the windshield.

Yes, they are VERY strong right now, quite and adventure to open the sliding glass door to let the pup in & out of the yard   The triple pane windows are flexing, and the window blinds hanging above them are swinging :faint: After being here now I hear a difference in the winds. Crazy high wind were 3-8 am, and the ancient lilac outside my bedroom wall was getting battered against the house, lost sleep. Hopefully it's quieter tonight.

PS, nothing stays outside here in the winter, it's either stored, (kids trampoline is anchored), or it gets blown to Nebraska. I didn't know what a luxury it was to have our barbeque out all year long at our previous home.

I could be wrong, but the pipes on that one look like they are plastic.

Something like this would probably be good, nice peak to shed snow. Garage-in-a-Box® SUV/Truck

This is similar to what I had, and my friend has. Nice and sturdy. This one actually says its snow rated. ShelterCoat Custom Wind and Snow Rated Shelter, Round
