Hit the firewood jackpot today. My BIL is running triaxle loads of 8x8xrandom cants of oak and hickory to our house from the mill. Split them once and they ready for the boiler.

    Happy birthday tree killer!

I spent most of the day in the kitchen working on the ceiling. Started at 5:30 am and finished up an hour ago. Up and down the low portable scaffolding all day. One more coat of ceiling paint and a little wall prep for wallpaper. Yes, wallpaper. Long story, but it will be real good. Got a deal for $5.00 each for double rolls.

The Mrs. helped a lot by cutting in and painting trim. She took our daughter out to start picking up some dog supplies. I believe next week we will have a nice rescue pup as part of the family. Transport is booked from down south to New England next week. Kind of quicker than we anticipated, but all good. Getting a lot done these past few days.

I must have missed it. What breed(s) is the rescue? I did see you were looking and thought you had possibly found the right one.

She is a mix of lab and terrier. 40lbs brindle coat. Sweet as can be. We had a video chat with the foster and she wasn't pulling on the leash. Lots of good words from the foster mom. Doesn't mind cats at all. Our cats might take exception. We didn't have any particular breed in mind, just a good-natured dog.

She was abandoned and living on the streets near Houston Tx. She was most likely a mom too based on lady parts observations.:rofl:

Time for her to relax and live life. Wing and a prayer we hope.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes. Uneventful day, worked this morning and drew plans from a picture for a new bed. Old one is beyond repairs after 30 years and my back is really starting to hurt. Can definitely build something a lot nicer than the stuff you can buy these days, quality is not there anymore it’s all for looks.

We always have had a dog or 2. Sister had too many cats and someone gave her another kitten. The kitten got beat on by he big cats and was starving and not in he best shape. Somehow we ended up with it. Liked the dog we had at the time, she was young and he was older and mellow. After he passed we got a new lab puppy, she hid. Couple years later we got another lab puppy. We didn’t see the cat after that, just in passing. It’s funny because she actually liked the dogs, would hide and swat them when they walked by or were sleeping but didn’t want anything to do with them.

We have one cat that is almost like a dog and I believe she will do fine. The other one, maybe not, and she may hate us even more.

Wall paper is making a comeback - at least from what I have seen on HGTV. I rarely watch it, but Friday night's are horrible for TV watching, and I've already watched everything that is currently running on the Science channel a couple of times, so I have HGTV on in the background while I read.

That second one will act like it hates the dog, but when you aren't looking she will be rubbing all over it. That is to keep the dog confused and make the humans feel sorry for her and remind them how horribly she is abused - which keeps her in her rightful place, as Queen of the household :D. I've had two of those.

What is worse for some people than actually wallpapering is watching someone else wall paper on TV.

Wallpaper is very forgiving on horsehair plaster walls too.

I watch DIY blogs on YouTube and ask myself, why am I sitting here watching someone work when I have my own list to do.

This weekend I changed that. I put the phone down and got to it.

Coffee now and back to ceiling painting.

    Have a great day everyone.

Caffeine! Two days of vacation left. Time to get some work done and spend some time with the family later today. I’ve been mostly working off and on, here and there, on projects too. Take a break whenever I feel like it, for as long as I feel like it. Do what I want, when I want. Progress has been good, and time hanging with family great.
